About Me:
Life was good to me as a kid. It was better than most, worse than a few. But all in all, it was fine. I got fat in the fourth grade. My parents had split and I went to live with my mom for a few years. She wasnt the healthiest mom on the block. My dad on the other hand was a runner. Fat, oops, I mean fast forwarding to adulthood. I joined the Navy and came out of boot camp the best I have ever looked. I weighed in at about 155 and was toned and fabulous. However, McDonalds was right across from where I lived so that didn't last long. I have a VERY unhealthy relationship with food. I want to change that. Since the Navy, I have gotten married, had babies, three of them, and been fat and less fat, but always overweight.
My loving husband had always been very supporting of me and I am very blessed to have the family support that I have. Diets have not worked so this needs to be a life change. I need to change for myself, for my children, and for the life that I still have left to live.
I feel like I am inside here, somewhere, smothering to death from the weight of all of this, well, weight.
Someday, the outside of me will reflect who I truly am. And I look forward to seeing her again.

can we say frustrated?

So, I checked....yeah i'm up a pound. yesterdays weight stands. geesh. I know it shouldn't matter...and it doesn't really, but boy is it frustrating. so, it's raining and i have decided to take the weekend off. i am unplugging after work today. no running, no internet, no nothing. I might do some yoga....gonna play with my kiddos, go to church and a superbowl party, and have a birthday dinner for my friend. I am going to eat drink and be merry. i'm going to recharge and refocus. ONE skipped long… Continue

so i'm up a pound. think that might have anything to do with the steak and butter laden veggies last night?? yeah, me too. I'm finding that today, the number on the scale really isn't bothering me all that much. I think i might just weigh in again tomorrow and see what it says....i'll post that one too just for posterity! (i had to look that word up to make sure it fit!) looking at the whole picture.

I can run 10 miles. It's not fast, it's not pretty, but I can do it. me. just me. all by myself. and sometimes i can't see that. I get fed up at how hard it is, or how slow it is, but what i need to remember is that i CAN do it. I have been running for just about a year and a half now. wow. it's hard to think that i have stuck with it for this long. i'm training for a half marathon...thinking about a full....and since i tend to focus on what i can't do, i'm forgetting to be proud of what i CAN d… Continue

Thanks for your comment Mary! You are absolutely right. I shouldn't downplay my achievement. A year ago I would never think that I'd be running at all, and yet here I am. I compare myself too much to what other people are doing when they run, which is why I think I'm slow (I have a friend that does a 9 minute mile). Thanks for putting that into perspective for me. :-D

9 pounds in a week? I don't believe it. I'm calling it sodium/water weight! :-) Your next weigh in will certainly show a large loss. Good for you for facing it now!
