Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

In my last post I wrote about cutting back on the sauce... Diet Coke that is. Welllll it hasn't been going so good. I just need to keep trying. And I'm a little worried about my weight loss this week. In a normal week I have 2 donuts. Last week I had 4... and then today I had one. So that puts FIVE donuts between my last weigh in and my weigh in tomorrow... yikes. I guess this will really put to test the "a calorie is a calorie" theory... that it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you're within calories. I don't believe that though, which is why I'm nervous for weigh in. I just want to get to goal, whatever that is, so I can focus on maintenance! I said I was going to start maintenance at 125 so that's the number I'm focusing on.

I hate how I feel about myself because of all those donuts. All that sugar I've been putting into my system is just not good. I have just been so famished in the mornings. For example, this morning I made a packet of oatmeal and added frozen blueberries. It was sooo good and I wasn't full when I finished eating, so I had another one. Then not an hour later, I got a donut! I wasn't hungry anymore but I just wanted it. It seems like nothing can get me full/satisfied in the mornings anymore. The one thing that usually works is eggs, but it's hard for me to make myself eat eggs every morning. And I don't really like breakfast meats so that's out. I'll figure something out I'm sure!

I've got to run because I'm trying to FINALLY get the house clean. It hasn't been completely clean since I finished school, which is ridiculous because I've had so much time. But for me, the more time I have it seems the less I get done. Need to work on that! Have a great week everyone! I REALLY hope I lose 2 pounds tomorrow but that would pretty much take a miracle. :)

Also, maybe try steel cut oats. They take about 20 minutes to cook, but keep you fuller way longer. I have a half serving with a little olive oil, vanilla, and brown sugar.... and totally fills me up!

I have to agree with Kari and Erica. Eat a protein and good carb together. That will keep you full and it will help slow down digestion...hence lower blood sugar levels. Your body will then start burning fat as fuel. I also add protein to my oatmeal. I also make a good egg white no flour pancake thats good. There are a lot of good egg recipes out there to help change things up a bit. Try experimenting with some. Also read up on white flour and proccessed foods and the efects of them. Its true...you may have a stronger desire to eat better if you know how bad they are. Since I have read more about them..I want to eat better, healthier, whole foods and I have no desire to eat proccessed stuff anymore. Im not perfect...I still treat myself here and there but for the most part I try to avoid it. At first it was hard...but after 5 days or so..I was feeling awesome! I really do feel so much better when I took that crap out of my diet. Maybe give it a try:)

You should totally read The Eat Clean Diet. It changes how you think about food, it makes you want foods that nourish you with, & avoid the sugar & white flour foods. It has given me new motivation, check out my most recent 2 posts! Don't stress, you have had such awesome losses I'm sure you will do fine!

If the protein makes you full, look up some of hungrygirl's breakfast recipes. This way you can incorporate eggs, but not feel like you're eating eggs for breakfast every day. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't sweat it too much because let's face the facts that you have done amazing in making some really wonderful changes. So keep working at it but when you do feel like you've slipped up don't be too hard on yourself. As for morning breakfast not filling you up....when you have just oatmeal, etc. it most likely isn't satisfying you like eggs because you are lacking the protein. Either try adding some protein powder to your oatmeal, or have 1/2 cup cottage cheese on the side, or how about a smoothie w/protein powder along with your oatmeal.

Maybe you could substitute muffins for donuts? They might have a little less sugar but still give you the same treat feeling?

What about keeping some peeled hard boiled eggs in the fridge that you can just grab and go? I do that sometimes and its pretty convenient when I'm running late and need to eat something.
