I have to admit that when I first decided to try Weight Watchers again, I went out to the store, hit the snack food isle and calculated the points for all my favorite junk foods, hoping I could somehow fit them in! I was shocked...some of my daily treats consumed 1/3 of my points for the DAY! Before starting, I had acquired some bad habits... especially at night. It was not unusual for me to sit down after supper and share a bowl of popcorn with my husband, followed by some ice cream and then maybe a couple cookies or some chocolate. I knew I wasn't eating well... but hey, I had a good breakfast, salad for lunch and healthy dinner! I really was in denial about what I was eating. Even those so-called healthy meals, weren't very healthy. The biggest alteration I had to make to my diet was fats and sweets... seems like a no brainer right? I knew my night time routine would need to change, but I was surprised by the changes my daily diet needed. I was eating way too much salad dressing, mayonaise, olive oil, cheese, nuts and butter. The foods I chose were good for me, but I either ate too much or smothered them with dressings, mayo or butter.
My daily eating has changed dramatically... Here's a sample day for me:
Coffee with 2 T Half & Half Creamer and 2 t sugar = 2 pts
Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal = 3 pts
Baby Carrots = 0 pts
2 T Lite Ranch Dressing = 2 pts
Josephs Flax Seed Lavash Bread = 2 pts.
1 oz Thin & Trim Turkey Breast = 1 pt.
1 T. Hellmans Lite Mayo = 1 pt
Lettuce/ Sprouts/ Tomato = 0 pts
Fiber One Oats & Chocolate Granola Bar = 2 pts
4 oz Grilled Bnls sknls Chicken Breast = 4 pts
1 C. Rice = 4 pts
Veggies = 0 pts
1 T. Lite Smart Balance Spread = 1 pt
Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich = 2 pts
Tea w/ Lemon & Splenda = 0 pts
Total Points = 24/ Day
I pretty much stick to the same foods each day so I'm not obsessing about point values all day! I still log everything and weigh my food. Dinner changes each night, but I try to make it 7-9 points, so I have a 2-3 points left at the end of the night for a sweet treat... A definate MUST for me!
I'd love to know what other people are eating... What works for you? Any foods that you couldn't live without?
