Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

On Tuesday I had a great weigh in. 7lbs! It is good because I lost all of the 6.8 I gained while we were in Pittsburgh. I also lost an additional .2 lbs. I still can't believe I lost that much with minimal exercise last week. I journaled everything though and stuck to my calorie target every day. I also mostly ate clean all week.

This week I resumed normal exercise although I'm taking it slow and easy. I'm still not back up to running or C25K training. The cough is still present, but hopefully on its way out. I've walked 30 minutes on the treadmill everyday. Yesterday I challenged myself and walked at 4.0 for 6 minutes which I don't generally do. Maybe 2 minutes top. Today it was back to light walking at 3.5. I was coughing a bit more so wanted to take it easy. I also planned to do some strength training today. I created a workout on my iPhone using the iFitness app. Basically it is just a bunch of general stuff: squats with weights, lunges with weights, pushups (on knees), good morning with dumbbells, bicep curls with lateral raise, crunches, tricep extensions, deadlifts with dumbbells, crunch twists, and pulse ups (legs up and lifting hips off the ground). So easy stuff, but it was challenging today. I did 2 sets of 12 reps with 60 second break in between each set. I only did 8 reps of the twisting crunches because it was towards the end and I was cramping a bit. Now my arms and upper back are killing me. I also had to carry the 25 lb toddler today to and from the bus stop since we are being visited by a Nor'easter. I only used 3lb weights today which seemed to be plenty heavy enough. I have a feeling I'll definitely be feeling it tomorrow.

Tomorrow I'm going to walk for 30 minutes again. And then I think I'll try some yoga in the afternoon to help stretch my muscles. I'm going to aim to do strength training on Mondays and Thursdays. I may try using the incline on the treadmill to make the walk more challenging.

One of my major goals for the weekend is to make a list of all of the food we have in the house. Then I want to make a menu for dinners for the next week. I want to start trying some new stuff especially since it is almost winter time. The only problem is the husband. He hates new things. Unless it is covered in butter or garlic or some sort of fatty sauce he generally doesn't like it. But before we buy new stuff we have a ton of food that needs to be used up first. So that is the mission for this weekend. That along with cleaning since the house is a wreck since I've been sick.
