No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

I have stopped going to my supervised program...it was costly and I've had equal or better success with less costly programs such as WW. It is partially my fault as I refuse to eat a lettuce only (1 cup) meal a day. I want real food!! I have never had an issue with moderately low carb..low fat..low cal...but supplement shakes and lettuce are not for me...I will just resolve to lose this weight maybe a little slower and not feel so deprived. I may return to WW or begin TOPS if I see that I'm struggling again. I seem to do a little better with weekly weigh-ins with others..accountability is important. I've almost lost 30 pounds, but I have a long way to go. A doctor told me yesterday that my ideal weight was about 115 lbs...all I could do was laugh. I think I weighed that about 7th ..maybe 8th grade LOL...He's the doctor that performs the gastric bypasses and lap bands that my insurance now covers about 50%.. which would be an out of pocket cost of $8,000 for me..The thing is ...as ironic as it is...you have to give up raw vegetables ...salad...pickles...things that were pushed as dieter's friends. It is still a last resort to me...but my skinny daddy had a stroke last winter at age 53 so I have to face my own reality (and genetic tendencies). I wish that doctors could just pinpoint the gene that makes me hold onto my weight and zap it lol. I hope that you all are having a great week...just take it one day at a time...

Boy Leah, do we ever think alike! LOL I have been searching the TOPS web-site for a location near me. LOL I can't do those supplement diets either. I am too hungry! Goodness, that's what got me into this mess anyway! I have found WW to be the best program for me and it does work when I follow. But, I'm afraid that I have found I can eat my points allowance in healthy foods OR crappy foods. What I want to teach myself, along with losing weight, is how to eat healthy foods, in a normal portion and in a balanced way. WW is easy, there is no doubt about that. The point system just doesn't seem "real" to me. And, I'm tired of wasting my hard earned money on a diet I usually drop out of. Take a look at this web-site: SparkPeople.com It's a free web based weight loss community. They have a lot of the tools you find on WW online, only it's free! Including a diet plan and a place to record your food intake, food calculator and fitness planning. Lots of info and tools.
