Amy L. Haines Holy Moly! This is working! (Recipe Post)

I stepped on the scale today, one week and a day from my start on WW-on-my-own. I couldn't believe it, I weigh 168.6 pounds. I weighed 173.2 last Wednesday. I am psyched! At this point, losing scale weight is my best indicator of progress, next to the way my clothes fit. Overall I feel fantastic and even doubly motivated now to keep on going with my eating and exercise plan. I did not get to ride last night. The weather held out, but I gave the ride opportunity to my husband instead. He is goi… Continue

Nath I'm free!

Yay freeeeeee at last! I still have a lot of studying and reading to do before the end of the semester (only 4 exams and 2 lab reports left!), but the worst part is now behind me. My stress level reached an all-time high this afternoon. I had a project presentation in my cellular biology class. If you want to have an idea of what I was feeling, combine the following ingredients: 1) Mild fear of public speaking/oral presentations (that is aggravated by stress) 2) Too much other things to do in… Continue

Arlene Pretty good day

At least I thought it was until I checked my pedometer ... only 5,998 steps today — and that's with a 33-minute walk. How does that happen? I must have been sitting the whole rest of the time. Anyway, despite the lack of steps, it was still a good day. I started the morning off right, with a slice of Roni's Banana Bundt Bread. That was my morning snack, because I woke up too late for a real breakfast. (It was something like 10:15 when I finally rolled out of bed.) Then I remembered I'd wanted… Continue

Michele Dochat Soreness

Last night I was sitting down after what was a long day, and thinking I could finally relax...and my legs and arms started to get achey...kind of sore, but not quite. It was odd. I just could not get comfortable. And I noticed my fingers were swollen just enough to be noticeable. I must have fidgeted in my recliner for over an hour...and when I went to bed I still could not get comfy. I put those thoughts in the back of my head about maybe am working out too hard or too much because I know that… Continue

Amy Receipe & WI-8/1/08

While I expected another gain after the last two weeks- little exercise and fast food mixed with ice-cream and cake- I was shocked at the weeks total- only 2lbs.... up from last week...a total of 4lbs. So... it got me thinking that while I am happy with the way things are.... I would feel more comfortable in smaller skin. I ate the way I wanted this week and was guilty at my choices. So this morning I tried two new things for breakfast in my quest to be on plan- Chocolate Quinoa and green soup.… Continue

erin Mixed Berry Oatmeal

This is my favorite breakfast. I like it because it is filling, tastes good, and is good for me. I hope you like it too. I make 1/2 C quick cooking oats in a scant 1 C water on the stovetop (prefer the texture, but you can microwave it). Then, I make a mixed berry sauce with: 1 package of frozen mixed berries (you could totally do fresh berries since they are in season) 1/4 C water 1/4 C sugar 2 T cornstarch mixed in 2 T cold water First put the berries, water & sugar in a saucepan. Cover… Continue

Geekgal Faux Ice Cream

Yesterday, all day I wanted to go get ice cream but knew I didn't need it, even though I thought the cold creaminess would make my throat feel better. I remembered that I still had some coconut milk and wondered if I could make some kind of frozen dessert with that, so I poked around the web and came across something that said you could blend together 1 can coconut milk, 2 cups berries, and some vanilla, the… Continue

HungryHippos Still getting used to the new blog system

I don't like change! I miss my weightwatchen blog, but I know it's time for something new. I know I'll get this figured out! Summer is going great. I am delightfully sore from working in the yard and slightly sun burnt from being in the pool. Those sound like complaints, but it's actually wonderful. I'm going to steer clear of the pool for the first day in a few weeks and am going to attempt to sew. I started two projects last night and had everything all cut out and ready to go when my sewing… Continue

Colleen blueberry wednesday

It's been a few days since I've posted an update and so far I've had a fairly successful week. I managed to stick to my plan at the graduation party. There was a ton of food, and thankfully there were also veggie platters. So while others filled their plates up with chips, dip, meatballs, and cookies, I was free to munch on cucumbers. Now I know this sounds awful, but the truth is I love cucumbers. They are crunchy like chips, but they also fill you up. I was able to leave the party without feel… Continue
