Tanie My credo for a balanced life.

I have a new found understanding about my issues with food. This comes after being extremely focused, and reading a few books about how the mind plays such a huge role in weight loss. Below is a comparison of two parts of me. I almost feel like I have a personality disorder when I view the comparison, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. It's like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde scenario. I call these two facets of my life, "Satisfied girl" and "Hungry girl". After the comparison is a… Continue

Cindy M. A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing

I feel so disappointed in myself because I haven't tracked my points since Sunday night, well I have in my head... but you know how inaccurate that can be. So I just spent part of my lunch hour trying to figure out what I ate for the past couple of days. Again I am reminded of how we think something is a certain point value because it appears healthy but later regretfully discover that it is worth far more then one would ever expect. For example... We have been increasingly busy a… Continue

Suzyn I know, I've been MIA

Other than a comment here or there on other members' posts, I've been MIA, sorry about that... I'm back. :-) It's been an eventful few days, my eating was alllll over the place, I settled in with a couple of good books to start to help myself get back on track... my old favorite "Thin Tastes Better" by Stephen Gullo, and "YOU: On a Diet" by Dr. Oz, which I found incredibly helpful psychologically, which, let's face it, is where this battle is fought. Dr. Oz goes into the physical effects of bei… Continue

Liberella Sunday Goals

The last week has been a disaster - at least to my health and my personal goals. Ironically, it was a good week for my career. Some very important projects were completed with great acclaim and I got some good press for my organization. However, with the anxiety and the exhaustion that accompanied my week was the compulsion to eat junk and the trick my mind played on my body by convincing myself that I "deserved" it. No crazy bingeing, just a lack of planning and the resultant junk food. So, h… Continue

Debi Funny how the mind works

Yesterday and today there has been a winter snow and ice storm here in my part of the country. Yesterday evening it had become apparent that I was not going to be able to get to my regular weekly weight in. The second my brain know that, it went into junk food mode gear and forget about counting points mode. Thankfully there was not too much junk food around and the weather would not permit me leaving to find any. I am amazed everyday at the power of our thoughts and how much they really do con… Continue

A New Year… A New You… A New Focus! At a time when the world is reeling from the worst financial collapse since the Great Depression, most people are experiencing an economic recession that will undoubtedly have an impact on their lives in 2009. Claire Excited!

I'm really excited to lose this weight! Seriously, I'm thrilled to learn about healthy eating, portion control, and daily exercise. Right now it's almost 5:00 and the sun is shinning. I'm going to leave work in about 15 min, cycle home, start marinating the salmon, and then go for a 50 min run. I'm going to have to run quickly because we are having a guest for dinner. It's one of my husband's friends from his PhD programme. I'm also really excited to use this blog and community as a way to chr… Continue
