I had a busy day today! Meeting with a parent after school AND a cheer meeting, not to mention getting things organized in my classroom and trying to keep up with grading. I think English teachers have it the roughest when it comes to grading things--all the writing!
The cheerleading team will be interesting. They've already naturally separated themselves between JV and Varsity--all the JV girls sat together and all the Varsity girls sat together. We tried to drive home the fact that we are all…

Hmm...don't always love my body, don't always care for it for that matter either, but dang it the darn thing still cares for me! I guess I need to work on the loving and caring part on my end of the deal. Otherwise it may not always be there for me.
I need to recommit myself, which is now becoming a weekly thing. My weekends are getting WAY out of control. I am always finding an "occassion" in which I think it is okay to go overboard. It might be fine every once in a great while...but EVERY wee…

November is bringing all sorts of new things for me. I started a new job *(though not by choice), it will be my first full month as a new MBA graduate, my baby is now 10 months old as of yesterday and I am starting a new approach to weight loss, writing about it online and striving to be a healthier person for the sake of my son. I think the big thing I really need to work on is the diet portion of losing weight. I say this for a few reasons; I am already fairly good at working out as I am addic…

A friend of mine on Facebook is doing "30 Days of Thankful" and the idea behind it is to update your status everyday of the month of November with something that you are thankful for. I decided to steal her idea and start my own "30 Days of Thankful" yesterday. Yesterday I wrote how I was thankful for my husband who puts up with me regardless of my particular antics on that day, and for today:
"30 Days of Thankful" - Today I am thankful for the ability to run, while I may not be very good at it…

Today was the start of a new week and we kicked it off with a lower body workout. It was a good mix today, 2 of the exercises were new to me and the combination of exercise today was a first for me on the program. Which brings me to the topic of muscle confusion. This program is great for that, I never find myself doing the same routines over and over. And I don't need to go out searching for a new routine when I am getting bored with the old one. It really takes the thinking out of working out…

Upper body day, today was a repeat of the previous upper body workout from Tuesday. Really intense as usually and had me feeling great. The scale is only one measure of success. The mirror I think is more telling, and I really like the way my upper body is starting to look and I also feel better and more energetic all the time.

New and Improved?
I'm new here, inspired by the CNN blurb :) I've started and stopped countless journals in the hope that someday I would have my own success story.
I thought, why not make it public? Why not draw on support from others?
I'm old, I'm almost 50 and I've been eating disordered my whole life. I eat for every reason other than health and feeding my body. I eat when I'm happy, I eat when I'm sad, I eat when I'm lonely and I eat when I'm overwhelmed. Sometimes I eat because I starte…

Sometimes I think about posting but decide not to because lately I've been so up and down and all over the place. I keep changing my mind about things and I'm afraid it will drive people nuts. But if it helps me work through things then I guess that's reason to keep blogging!
I haven't posted in the past couple days because I'm afraid I'll jinx it. I know that's ridiculous... but basically Sunday I woke up knowing I had to change my eating around. I binged or ate horrible every day last week!!…

Running through quickly to update you on yesterday! I actually did "pretty good". Although I did get into some damn leftover Halloween Candy! UHHHG! But I did run/jog 2 miles over my lunch break and went to Body Pump last night. So a pretty good amount of calories burned!
I came INTO the office today and it's already going better. No candy haunting me or anything! And when you pack your luck, that's all that is available for you! I should probably come IN everyday!!! But the convenience of work…

The world is ending!
At the grocery store yesterday, I saw a sign alerting me to something rather distressing.
A PUMPKIN SHORTAGE!
Luckily through my tears I was able to remember, like a true addict, I already have my stash of 10+ cans at home. Whew. Crisis averted. For a second I was worried my orange "hue" would be no longer. What would I be, if not for orange?…

Goals for this week.
Exercise- I'm usually all or nothing on this front. I am going to the gym every day or i'm going not at all/ once a week
1. Gym- 3 times (last night: 1/3) I usually just do cardio at the gym
2. Mat workout- 2 times ( i plan to do this tonite) This is a yoga/ pilates/ physical therapy exercise mix
3. Do not feel feel bad about not working out on your "rest days". What is that even about? (See the all or nothing mindset?) If you push yourself to do too much one week it wont b…

I stepped on the scale today, and due to how bad i ate on Halloween I was honestly thinking I would have gained some. However I eat really well on Sunday and Monday, and it payed off! i am now down to 172.8 instead of 175. I'm so happy! I'm feeling like the diet is going a lot better, thanks to the articles and comments that a lot of you pointed out about diets too low in carbs. I actually mentioned to my boss some of the reasons and my fears about being carb crazy when i go off the diet, and he…

So far day two has gone really well. I woke up at 7 which is weird for me because I normally sleep in until 9 or 10. But I actually got out of bed and went outside for a walk! That's right I walked for a half hour even though it was only 30 degrees and I forgot a hat and gloves! I was surprised that my legs were already hurting a few minutes into the walk. I had forgotten to charge my ipod so I got a little bored. Then I came home and had the healthy breakfast I had planned.
Last night I went t…

So I have recently found two new obsession: Oikos Greek Yogurt and drinking only water. Ok ok..."drinking only water" isn't really a "thing" that you can be obsessed with, but the way my body has felt over the past few days is!! I used to always only drink coffee in the morning and water for the rest of the day. I was never a juice or soda person, but when I was younger I was addicted to sweet tea. Well when I decided to lose weight I had to kick the sugar/calorie loaded drink to the curb and re…

I think my post the other day helped me to realize I had to kick it into gear. I only had a 1.2 pound gain this week and I couldn't be happier. I was expecting at least a 3 pound gain if not a 5. So this is very good considering the week and a half I just had. I am so happy that I did not let myself get even further out of control. Posting truly is very thereputic!
Halloween didn't help matters and I slacked a bit in tracking. I made up for it with salads and fish for lunches and dinner. I have…

I weighed in this morning, and the result wasn't pretty. Up 3.4 pounds from Wednesday, putting me back in the 190s.
So I need to do something — fast — to get the scale moving back in the right direction.
I'm thinking about taking pictures of everything before I eat it, then posting a wrapup on my blog at the end of the day ... that ought to make me think twice about ordering the cheesy nachos at Taco Bell!
Snapped some photos today, but it's been crazy at work, and I haven't had any time to g…
