Today I weighed in at 153 pounds. In 1998, I had a 26 inch waist and weighed 125 pounds. In 2001 at 64 inches, I weighed 150 pounds. I became committed to a healthy lifestyle and I found an online website, and through the support of the ladies who kept me accountable, I brought my weight down to 132. I was starting to feel good about myself, and proud of my efforts. Well, when you are on a sled and it's icy, you slide fast! I gained my weight back and then some. I am an emotional eater, and alwa…

That's me. I slept 11 hours. It was wonderful, but waking up at 9am made me feel like I wasted my morning. Then I read for a little while, had yogurt, then went to the grocery store. With goodies to make for Thanksgiving, my cart looked like it used to look all the time: unhealthy. Cans of stuff, lots of carbs, little veggies. The reason for this is that I'm making the side dishes for the various Thanksgiving meals we have been invited to attend. I'm making mac and cheese for one school party, c…

Today makes 1 week since I've ran at all, longer since I've run well. I woke up last Saturday morning with a water balloon for a knee and I've not worked out since. It has been very painful, but it's finally starting to ease up. With my race on Thursday, I haven't wanted to risk it. I want to run that 5k. Tomorrow I am going to try and do an easy two miles, walking as much as I need to. It feels so weird now when I'm not exercising a lot, but I like that.
This weekend is going to be an emotiona…

I decided that I wanted something a little special to give me that extra omph during the holiday season. Perhaps a little extra incentive to work out. This morning I picked up The Biggest Loser for the Wii. I have only used it once, so I can't say for sure how it will work long term, but I loved the workout I got today.
The premise of the "game" is that you become a contestant on the Biggest Loser (actually you choose from 8 former people on the show to be "you") and compete against other conte…

I am back home now for Thanksgiving Break! It is going to be an entire week of relaxing, eating, and spending time with the ones that I love! I am so excited! The only thing that I need to keep in mind is MODERATION! I know it is Thanksgiving and I intend to splurge on that day...and that day only! I seem to always overeat when I get back home due home-cooked meals and a full pantry. I joke and say that the "freshman 15" will happen because of my trips home, not college life! Anyway, I guess the…

While I am very happy to have dropped into the 170's finally, it kind of sucks that I dropped into the 170's
this week...that means I lost a point a day for Thanksgiving week!
But I'll take that lost point and still do the dance of joy. And I will just make sure to be careful all week so I go into the big day with my flex points intact. My ultimate goal that day is to not use all of them (but probably most). I don't want to deprive myself, but really, it's just one meal. I don't want to g…

Today was not a great day. I didn't go to the gym as planned. I was supposed to do 3.5 miles. It takes less than an hour, so why won't I just DO IT?!
Ugh. Tomorrow was my scheduled rest day on our training schedule. I think I'll do the run I missed today tomorrow afternoon as a recharge between study sessions. Also on tap for tomorrow: making better food choices.
I stayed within calories today. I didn't make great choices (way too much sugar), but at least I was on the low calorie end. I had a…

After I graduated college back in December 2008, I decided to dedicate time to my body and health which had been very neglected during my intellectual pursuits. I was 285 lbs and while I have been overweight my entire life I had never been heavier. I ate with out thought, had no energy, napped constantly, and never got any exercise. I went to one of my mother's appointments with her heart doctor and he actually took time to pull me aside and recommended a gastric bypass to me. He and his son had…

After "practicing maintenance" as my ww leader says, for the last... oh at least 6 months, I'm feeling ready to start losing again. I'm taking it one day at a time, currently on day 5 of counting points again, and just generally being more conscious about what goes in my body. I'm also trying to be more conscious about how different foods make me feel, which I think is really helpful.
For example, the other day one of my co-workers brought these key lime coconut chocolate squares of yummy goodn…

I'm in total need of a virtual gym buddy/motivator. My husband is
fantastic and I use him for support, but I need all the support I can get, so I'm making a call out to applicants for a virtual gym buddy/motivator!
Anybody??
Bueller?

today was an overall great day for me. I faced a couple situations that may have caused bad eating behaviour with me before but I was prepared with a plan adn was able to stick to it! I started the morning off right with some strength training followed by a run. Then I had a long walk running some errands. Next, i went out for lunch with my roommate, and I only had a bowl of (delicous) torilla soup. Following lunch, we went to join a theatre full of 12 year old girls to see new moon (loved it) a…

So yesterday I was sooooo frustrated with my new bodybugg. I waited for a whole month and a half after I bought it on ebay for it to arrive here in Korea and then after all that, it wouldn't let me register because I'm not American! How silly! Well thanks to Elaine (who I owe BIG TIME!) I am now set up with a BodyBugg account and it is charging while I type! Even after Elaine helped me out with an address I did encounter some problems. The box says that it's compatible with macs (I just got a ne…

I finally got my power cord for my lap top in the mail. I've been lost without my computer. I did pretty good this week considering my son was sick and home from school. I went to the gym 2 days out of the 3 days he was sick. So I got 4 days in at the gym this week. Just trying to do things differently from normal. Trying not to make excuses why not to eat right, why not to exercise blah blah blah...... my list could go on forever. Now as am sure I'm not the only one freaking out about Thanksgiv…

My version of a detox has really gotten things back on track this week. Decisions as small as using whole organic carrots (not the scary chemical-dipped, shaved down, 'baby' kind) to eat hummous for lunch or slowly going through a half gallon of Odwalla's Green Machine as a post-coffee drink were enough to get the rest of my day on track. I was able to get back to eating a real breakfast in the morning, I didn't find myself binging/craving in the evenings, and overall I felt lighter in spirit as…

I joined the Countdown to Turkey Day group a few weeks back and I'm very glad I did. It gave me the idea to think up a goal heading into Thanksgiving. I wanted to be in the mid 170's by the big day.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED LAST NIGHT! I weighed 176.2 at my weigh-in!
Unless I get stupid in the next seven days...and I can never rule that out as a possibility...after all Thanksgiving is one of those days, I should be okay. I'm feeling strong and confident (for at least today) and I just believe I can…

There is a story in the news about Kate Moss - you know, the ultra thin "super-model" who made waves several years ago by making some sort of comment about not knowing how on earth anyone could ever let themselves go and become fat....well, she made another comment about a quote she likes - Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels".
Now, I think that is a good quote, but apparently it's used by several PRO-Anorexia/Bulimia sites. I never knew such a site existed. How appalling. I guess the thing…

I am happy to report that as of yesterday, I went down 1 pants size from 22 to 20. That was a weight loss of 6 lbs.
I am using the Shrink It Easy Diet Plan from VitaMark and its working great. Trying to exercise more, which is tough with the 3 herniated disks in my lower back (due to a slip and fall on ice in 2007), but doing as much as I can.
I even count housework as exercise!!
My goal is to reach a size 14 in 6 months.

Well, it's been a rough couple of weeks. Life in general not so great. Glad to be alive, just wishing there were less problems. :-D
In any event, so frustrated with the whole weight loss journey that I just went off the grid for a little bit. I'm still not at it 100%. Can't find the mojo. Don't have the energy, the strength, the desire or the inclination right now to really do anything about losing weight. I'm trying to get a grip, and I know that I will. I tried to start tracking again this pa…
