Hi group! Well, this looks like exactly where I belong. Thanks Janice and earlier Tanie for mentioning this group and leaving comments on my posts...this is exactly how I want to train myself to eat for life. No special diets - just normal food the…

YOu may not be able to stop at 1 oz the first time, but if you allow yourself to have them, you WILL find that someday they will go stale in the cupboard before you've had a chance to eat them all. I used to think I"d never be able to have any kind…

I loved reading this post. It makes me think about my trigger foods and how to think about them differently. I also like what Kate said about enjoying favorite foods with out becoming a slave to it...experiencing it without feeling deprived. Good jo…

Great job! What you did is a lot of what they suggest for normal or intuitive eating. You do not deprive yourself of what you wanted but do not feel guilty or beat yourself up after eating it. And you stopped when the craving passed. There is a Norm…

Sounds like you got to the bottom of some of your cravings. Personally, I dont think it sounds silly to test yourself in situations like these. I do this kind of thing too, because I am determined to make myself live a lifestyle where I can indulge…

So this may sound silly but it was one of my major goals in life to really learn how to incorporate foods that are generally really, really bad for you without going berserk over them. Because while I realize that I can't eat potato chips every day…

you are so right about this. i used to assume the same thing but then i paid closer attention - i have a friend who is rail thin and she's never been a "thinking about my weight all the time" kind of person. but one time i went out to dinner with he…

man, TOM really sucks. it's good to be tuned in to your body but as you said, knowledge isn't everything sometimes. i usually just allow myself a cheat day or two during that time because i know i'm going to have cravings and my determination is goi…

OMG, as others have said I can't believe you had it in you to get on the treadmill after your first time doing Shred! That is awesome. I basically wanted to die after I did it the first time so...really, that's just fabulous. :)

Wow! I think it is awesome that you're starting your own business. What a great attitude to have in the negative economy. I am positive you will find much success - best of luck to you! And remember, the unknowns might be scary, but they're also the…

The Potato Chip Experiment

So this may sound silly but it was one of my major goals in life to really learn how to incorporate foods that are generally really, really bad for you without going berserk over them. Because while I realize that I can't eat potato chips every day and be healthy or fit, I also know that I'm not going to live an entire life without ever eating them. There has to be a balance somewhere.

So this balance is what I was seeking as I contemplated the snack aisle, and picked up my favorite chips - Cap… Continue

Motivation

Haven't written here in a while because things are actually going very smoothly. In fact, I'm surprised this time that I am sticking to my plan so diligently. I pulled my calf muscle about a week and a half ago and it still hasn't fully healed so I haven't been able to do my cardio. Today I thought to myself, I am actually frustrated that I CAN'T work out. How cool is that? From going to always making excuses not to work out, to now feeling annoyed when I can't. So I've been sticking with… Continue

Ode to my Food Scale

Okay I might be a little late to the party on this but I never realized how convenient things could be with a food scale! Instead of having to eyeball a 1/2 cup of ice cream or a 1/4 cup of shredded cheese, I can weigh it accurately on the scale. I don't know about you but my measuring cups are totally inaccurate and especially now that I've got the scale, I'm noticing that the amount in measuring cups doesn't always match the oz or gms per serving. This way I don't have to worry about underesti… Continue

Emotions

I realized recently that there is actually a big difference between losing weight and having an emotional problem with losing weight. Like, I have friends who might gain 10 or 15 pounds over the course of a winter or a holiday and then look at themselves one day and decide, hey, I need to lose some weight. And sure enough, 2 to 3 weeks later, the extra weight is gone and they are back to their normal size. There was no whining, no complaining, no theorizing, no signing up for WW or going crazy w… Continue

My Breakthrough

Okay, so this is one of the reasons I joined BTL because I wanted to share this with you guys in the hopes that it might help. For me, in my constant battle to lose 20 pounds for what seems to be my whole life, I believe this was a major break through.

Here's what happened. A few weeks ago I had "gotten serious" yet again about losing weight, so I was counting my calories, working out. Usually, when I "get serious", I stay on plan for about 3 days, and then the next 4 days of the week I end up… Continue
