My goals

I must admit that I only just seriously restarted my weight loss program two weeks ago and boy am I glad that I did! My problem is mindless snacking all day long, so it took quite some willpower to get that under control.

Since I am German, it is much easier to record my weight in kilos, but I will post pounds/stones as well just for the heck of it.

I have watched too much of Biggest Loser UK/Aus lately, so I'm going for eight weeks initially.

This is an average projected weekly loss of 2lbs. Not too bad, is it?

My height is a measly 5' 1.5" (156 cm)

My goal by the end of the eight weeks is to weigh under 60 kgs/132 lbs/9st 6 lbs, Now that the eight weeks are over, I have not yet met my goal, but I will go on until 57kg/126 lbs/9st. Hopefully by mid-September.

Starting weight

June 1st: 67.4 kg/149 lbs/10st 9lbs

June 8th 65.6 kg/145 lbs/10st 5lbs (- 4 lbs) yes! What a start. Makes me want to go on.

June 14th 65.5 kg/145 lbs/10st 5lbs (- 100 grams!) I feared that like hell! I did so much!!!! sh**t!

June 20th 65.1 kg/144 lbs/10st 4lbs (- 1 lb) very little indeed, but at least it's a loss.

June 27th 64.8 kg/143.5 lbs/10st 3.5lbs (- .5 lb). I'm starting to get really frustrated here!

July 4th 64.7 kg/143.3 lbs/10st 3.3lbs (- .1 lb)

July 10th 63.9 kg/140.8 lbs/10st 1lbs (- 1.7 lb) yes!!

July 19th 62.7 kg/138 lbs/9st 12lbs (- 2.8 lb) wow!

July 24th 62.2 kg/137 lbs/9st 11lbs (- 1 lb)

July 30th 62.7 kg/138 lb/9st 12lbs (+ 1lb)

Aug 10th 62.0 kg/136.7 lb/9st 10.6 lb (- 1.3 lbs)

Aug 17th 61.6 kg/135.8 lbs/9st 9.8lbs (- 1 lb)

Aug 24th 60.8 kg/134 lbs/9st 8lbs (- 1.8 lb)

Aug 31st 61.3 kg/135 lbs/9st 9lbs (+ 1 lb)

Sep 7th 60.7 kg/133.8 lbs/9st 7.8lbs (- 1.2 lb)

Sep 14th 60.9 kg/134.3 lbs/9st 8.3 lbs (+ 0.5 lb)

Sep 21st 60.5 kg/133.4 lbs/9st 7.5 lbs (-.9 lb)

Sep 28th 60.9 kg/134.3 lbs/9st 7.5 lbs (+ 0.5 lb)

Oct 5th 59.7 kg/131.6 lbs/9st 5.6 lbs (- 2.7 lbs) where did that come from??

Nov 9th 60.4 kg/133 lbs/9.5st

Major milestones (tentative)

I did reach two major milestones this month, and I mean MAJOR! The first was that I completed a half marathon. Me, a half marathon?? Time was almost laughable, and yes I did walk occasionally, but for me it was really good. And I finished, which was what was most important.
Then, an even more important breakthrough. Literally. I dropped under 130 pounds (59 kgs, 9 stone 4lbs) for the first time since 1983. I was 14 back then. Granted, I was a chubby teen. But then, weren't a lot of us? I still c… Continue

More running and more losing

I did another 5k. It was the "Race for Life" run in Newcastle upon Tyne in England. These are mostly "fun runs" after all, although the cause behind it (cancer - mostly breast cancer) is anything but. There was a lot of overtaking and being overtaken, so my time was again just over 37 mins, but I know that it will improve over time.

I also lost a whopping 1 kg over the last week, thanks to a "modified" juice fast in the last 3 days. I had to include some dairy or else I'd have gone mad! But I e… Continue

Running and losing

I've completed my first official 5k race. The time wasn't really good, just over 37 minutes, but I've started running with a trainer within a group of five, so I am expecting to improve sometime soon.
This week I've lost just under two pounds, so that's really good, but I am planning a three-day juice fast at the end of next week (I won't be running during that time). Just three days, I'll see what that may bring ...

What went wrong? Week 2 blues

Yes I know from watching one too many seasons of "Biggest Loser" that week two can be a b***h, but I feel like a character in a classic German children's book called "The Little Witch" who thought that she had done everything right just to find out that it was the exact opposite.
It's not that bad after all, but after a week of meticulous journalling and No chocolate (not even a mere ounce the of 70% kind - and I know they have just as many calories) and just one scoop of ice-cream a week ago, a… Continue

I should really start this blog now ...

Yesterday was a holiday in some parts of Germany (Corpus Christi). These prove to be especially difficult at times, as I'm home all day and I potentially have time to fall into my old habit of mindlessly snacking. My weapon against this is to keep mostly low cal stuff around.
Thank God for strawberry (and peach) season. I had my warm meal during the day rather than at night, which is always a good idea for me.

Food journalling is really hard, I find. But it's the only way to go. I am almost loo… Continue
