Great job on size 10 pants! I will definitely do a little jig when I get to that point!

I think it's a great idea to get it done before your visit to your in-laws and not before your personal vacation. Especially if you don't normally take a lot of vacation time! Good luck!!

Love the goal update! I think walking while shopping can count. Better than nothing, right? :-)

I'm trying to be realistic about December and so far, so good. I try to really stay on program during the week and allow myself a little (and sometimes a lot) of wiggle room on the wknds when we're out shopping, with family, etc. As I said before, I…

Insightful post - I especially like when you said that today should be the same as a day at goal. You are so right. All of the "waiting until I'm thin" really just wastes time. I am going to challenge myself to really dig deep and think about the th…

That's AWESOME that you met your goals last week. You will this week to...I just know it!

I started off all gung-ho to be restarting WW and now I'm in a slump. I had a so-so wknd, eating-wise. Stayed within my points (by using WPs all wknd), but didn't lose anything. Monday was supposed to be my "get back to it" day, but instead I binged…

"Oh, that's slimming on you" - my mom always says "Oh! You've lost oodles of weight" when clearly I haven't. That always sends me straight to the chocolate or something! I think it's a great idea to set weekly goals instead of monthly goals, I think…

This is such a great post. I really admire you for looking deeply inside and making this realization. I really hope I can be this introspective *when* I eventually get to my goal. Thank you for sharing this, it's so helpful for so many of us!

Wonderful Goals! I need to not just have a "Phew!" at the end of December too, Thanks for the kick in the rear. Time to challenge myself.

That's so funny! Who doesn't love The Sound of Music?

WOW - that's crazy. I just wrote a blog this morning with a similar title - I was talking about workouts, but my title should've been sung to the theme of How Do You Solve A Problem like Maria...crazy!! In fact, I am going to watch the SOM tonight!…

Profile Information

About Me:
I am a wife, mother, daughter and sister. I work full time and try to spend as much time as possible with my wonderful family. I am 39 years old and I have been on and off diets since I was in the 5th grade. I have gone through long periods in my life when I have been really active and at my "ideal weight" but, I feel like I'm a life long dieter (can't count the number of diets I've been on or the number of times I've joined WW). Ever since I had my first child (who is now 10 years old) I have carried an extra 15 to 40 lbs and can't seem to get back to consistent healthy eating and exercising. At this point, I am the heaviest I have ever been and I am determined to lose 40 lbs by my 40th birthday (by May 2010). This is where my journey begins!
Plan of Choice:

Third Week - being realistic

I'm trying to be realistic about December and so far, so good. I try to really stay on program during the week and allow myself a little (and sometimes a lot) of wiggle room on the wknds when we're out shopping, with family, etc. As I said before, I'd be happy if I lost 1 lb. this month so I feel like I'm doing OK.

As for the goals:
1. Walk at least 3 times per week - I walked twice and then my knee started acting up. Can I count walking around while shopping? : )
2. Keep tracking, no ma… Continue

Second week slump

I started off all gung-ho to be restarting WW and now I'm in a slump. I had a so-so wknd, eating-wise. Stayed within my points (by using WPs all wknd), but didn't lose anything. Monday was supposed to be my "get back to it" day, but instead I binged on croutons, of all things, and then had ice cream and cookies for dessert. MUST get back on track. Especially since yesterday I had a fleeting thought of "Maybe I'll just start in January..." NOOOOO! I will continue this month even if I only lose 1… Continue

December Goals

How do you solve a problem like the holidays? (sung to the tune of "How do you solve a problem like Maria?")

This December, my goal is to be realistic but not too easy on myself. In December I usually say, "I just don't want to gain any weight", but I think this December I'd like to set some actual goals so I have a sense of accomplishment in January not a sense of "Phew!"

December Goals:
1. Walk at least 3 times per week This should be relatively simple goal because I walk the dog ever… Continue

No Gain over Thanksgiving! Success!

I just weighed myself and I managed to stay the same during a week long vacation with my family. Despite pumpkin pie and other various treats, I stayed the same! I am so happy and encouraged that I made some good choices. My sister and her husband are VERY healthy eaters (and avid exercisers), so I'm sure that helped.

Also, instead of trying to do WW on my own, I re-joined WW Online and plan on really getting to know the program well and using all of the tools available to me. I'm slightly worr… Continue

Starting over....again!

I know (I hope) I am not the only one who starts over again and again and again, but I have to say, I'm getting pretty tired of it! When I look back at my posts (and there aren't very many!), I can see that I've tried at least 3 different ways of eating since July and that doesn't even count last week when I tried Atkins!! OMG - I'm a diet-aholic! UGH, that's depressing!

So, here I am, back to WW WOE and I'm skeptical, at best, at my ability to follow it. On the other hand, I've been successful… Continue

I'm loving CVS-ing too. I just can't do it every week or it wouldn't end up saving us money. If only I could remember to get the Sunday paper each week! I think I need to get delivery to my house.

Thanks for the comment Susie! And about the relationship with my daughter! It isn't always easy having a teenager, but it seems to be getting better and better, the older she gets! I get all teary-eyed just thinking about her graduating next year. But then again I'm SO excited for her to be moving on with her life and college. She is going into nursing...and I think she'll make a FABULOUS nurse! She is such a caring person... Always has been. Hope you have a great day!
