I'm a youth services librarian, mom to two fabulous girls (Rhiannon, born in 1997 and Corinna, born in 2002), and wife to a deputy sheriff since 1995. Hunger...or Lack Thereof

After two sessions of weight training, my entire lower body was really sore. My entire ribcage hurt from ab work, and my legs were terribly sore. I suppose that means I'm building muscle, right? Unfortunately, the class isn't going to run because I was the only person who registered for it. Weight Training Class Starts Tonight!

I'm excited about my twice-weekly weight training class at the Y. I've been slacking this summer since our vacation in June, so this will force me to do it at least twice a week.

My eating was pretty sensible all weekend -- net calories at 1500 or lower each day. I ate a very small dinner at the wedding, and, though I ate 2+ pieces of cake (without the yucky fondant frosting), I still stayed at 1500 calories net because I'd exercised a bit extra and eaten light the rest of the day. So far, so good...

I decided to bike to breakfast with friends this morning and whoa! It's only 7 miles one way, but it took me 45 minutes each way - and my heart was pounding. There was a lot of up and down and up and down. Breakfast was at a locally owned place where they serve all homemade food. It's usually quite delicious, but my meal was a bit disappointing. Four Day Weekend -- woo hoo!

I'm so glad to have four days off work, though I will have to be careful with my eating. I have both breakfast AND dinner out tomorrow, a wedding on Saturday, & lunch and dinner out on Sunday. Just more opportunities to make healthy choices and eat mindfully, right?

I ate 1946 calories today and burned off 550 through exercise, leaving me with 1396 net. I think trying to keep my net calories between 1200 and 1500 will be much more practical for me that trying to hit a target of calories eat… Continue

Still Here...

I didn't mean to leave my blog for so long. My eating has been up and down, resulting in gaining a couple of pounds. ARGH. I have temporarily gone back to calorie counting, to try and get a handle on appropriate portion size for ME again. I'm also weighing and measuring some things. I find that my portions get just a bit bigger as time goes on, unless I have a check. So far, it isn't contributing to any obsessive behavior or thoughts, so I'll continue for a while.
