About Me:
I'm a 20-something girl out on a mission - a mission to de-squishify! I've been reading the blogs on this site and have been inspired to start my own. I would love to be part of a community where accountability is paramount to the success of everyone!

My goal is to lose five pounds. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I have plateaued and can't seem to lose my layer of "squish". Since Christmas, I have lost approximately ten pounds but this last five is a struggle. This is my journey to lose the last five pounds and be the lean, mean, fighting machine I want to be!

No complaints today!

I like today. Today, so far, has been great!
A great breakfast, then off to the gym for almost an hour of cardio. I tried splitting up my cardio and strength training this week, doing just one or the other when I went to workout. I liked it! It's been a good way to change up my routine. I split the cardio between the treadmill, elliptical and the bike so time flies by. After that, I headed to the library and got a good chunk of work under my belt. Actually, I'm two days ahead of my research/writ… Continue

See ya later, you awful scale.

My day started off badly. I decided to get on the scale today and saw I am +3 pounds since the last time I weighed. Of course, this upset me. The scale always determines my mood. Had I been logical, I might have thought to myself "hmm, could be the sodium I've been eating lately and maybe this is water rention?" but instead I just got bummed out.

But the good news is that I biked to the gym; it was a gorgeous morning and for once it wasn't raining. I decided I would just do cardio, no weights.… Continue

What did I even do today?

Ever have those days when you think back and feel like you accomplished nothing? I think it's because my initial plan to get to the gym first thing didn't happen. It was raining out, and when my mode of transportation is a bike, the rain doesn't really agree with that. That meant a slowww start to my morning. All around laziness. I stayed in my pj's until 11 doing research! Okay I need to think about what I did today....
- research and writing for my credit
- weeded the garden and some cleaning… Continue

Plum = Yum!

I rediscovered the juicy red plum! I never buy them because really, I forgot plums even exist. At the grocery this morning I went to get some cherries and saw plums sitting next to them. And because they were cheaper, I went for the plums! My mom used to pack plums when my family would go on day trips when we were little kids. Isn't it funny how foods bring back memories, the same way songs or smells can? I sliced the plum with half a banana and a couple cubes of watermelon for an afternoon snac… Continue

A good, productive Saturday.

Today was a good enough day. I got a great lower body workout in at the gym, got caught up on the research and writing I needed to have done that fell by the wayside the last couple of days, and I ate okay. I'm out of fruits and veggies (I've got half a cucumber and a yellow pepper in the fridge and that's IT) and that never happens. I hate that because then I feel like I have no snacks. So, tomorrow morning I'm going to get up early and go to the grocery store first thing to stock up for the we… Continue

I haven't tried the spaghetti squash but have been curious. Do you count it as a vegetable? Is it "free"? The meatball sub has been something we've had every week since I thought to make it. It all started with a craving for a Subway meatball sub, but I didn't want to spend my 12 points, so I decided to make my own! It's been so good.

The meatball subs are really easy to make. I use lean ground beef and form it into small balls. I fry them in cooking spray, and while they're cooking, I toast two whole wheat hot dog buns. Then I pat any grease off. Add some sauce and some fat free cheese. Toast a little more, and it's a delicious low point meatball. The Subway meatball sandwich is 12 points for a 6 in., and mine is about 8 points for two good size sandwiches, so it's totally worth it. You could probably use ground turkey too and shave off another point.

Actually pumpkin butter is more sweet, like apple butter. I buy it at Trader Joe's and I love it!
