That's great, Debi! I finished the C25k program, but I was running using the times in the program and not the distances. When I finished I could run for 30 minutes, but only for 1.5 miles. So, I'm doing the program again starting at week 4 running t…

Profile Information

About Me:
I'm forty, got married to the most amazing person in the world on September 21st 2008, and I have a 13 year old stepson who I adore! I've been with Weight Watchers since 2002 and lost 35 pounds on the Flex plan my first year. I'd been "half-assing it" since those first 35 pounds and got a huge slap of reality in January of 2008 when I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hypertension. I went on the Core plan and became an exercise-aholic. I've lost 23 more pounds since then and am well on my way to goal! The journey is rough, but I'm loving it!
Plan of Choice:
Weight Watchers
Workout Philosophy:
I'm a gym rat ALL the way, I'm a Running Fanatic, I only exercise because I have to

AM or PM Workouts?

When do you guys work out?

I work a full 8 hour day, with an hour lunch and 2 hours spent in the car.

So either I get up at 4:30am to do my workout so I can be getting ready for work by 6am (doesn't matter if I run or go to the gym, still the same) OR I can wait until I get home at about 6pm and then do an hour or so workout, but not start dinner until 7:15pm-ish which means we wouldn't eat until 8pm and we're usually in bed around 9pm... so no free time in the evening.

I hate getting up earl… Continue

Giddiness Is...

Getting into the size 14 pants you couldn't get into 3 weeks ago!

Yay!

And someone already complimented me this morning, saying I look nice today :) It's been a long while since someone at work has complimented me!

Got a glimpse of 196.8 this morning on the scale! Usually I weigh myself before bed and then again in the morning after my usual potty breaks during the night (anywhere from 2 to 5 depending on what I've eaten/drunk the night before). For the first time in a very long time, when I… Continue

South Beach, Phase II and Weight Watchers

I entered Phase II of South Beach on Sunday. I had half of a whole wheat english muffin with my breakfast and some grapes and part of an apple with peanut butter during the day for my snack. Guess what? I didn't gain! *gasp*

Okay, so I'm being sarcastic. I don't expect to gain from half an english muffin and some fruit.

However, at our Weight Watchers meeting on Saturday our leader gave us a really simple way to make very tasty brownies. So, me being the evil wife that I am, I tried it out on… Continue

South Beach Day 10

I'm feeling pretty good.

I think the way I overcame the nausea of the change in diet was to avoid things that simply make me nauseous. I haven't had any eggs with veggies for breakfast, opting instead for hard boiled eggs and tea. I know I still need to get more veggies in.

Yesterday I had my first lunch out since starting. I hemmed and hawed about what I wanted off the menu, finally deciding on pork chops and a side salad with oil and vinegar. I was very proud of myself. I was so tempted to g… Continue

I totally understand. We will do just about anything to lose weight. One day I woke up weighing 294 lbs. and thought....what the h*ll have I done to myself? From that day on I cut myself back to @ 800 calories a day and would walk about 7 miles a day. I know it wasnt healthy and there were days that I would eat a few more calories. But seeing that weight come off daily and feeling so much better was well worth it. I do have lots of skin, etc. from doing it that way, but I wouldn't go back and do it any other way. You aren't doing anything drastic like starving yourself, but it sucks to feel badly. From todays blog post it sounds like you are feeling better. I am glad.

Ours went really well, we were worried about Hurricanes (we live near Myrtle Beach, SC) and we got married in Cocoa Beach, FL and took a cruise. (All during hurricane season...hmm) The wedding day was INSANELY hot and we got married on the beach at 7pm and it cooled off enough to be comfortable just in time. The next day we (and everyone that came to Florida with us for the wedding) hopped on a cruise for the Bahamas...we were affected a little by a tropical system coming back that made for a lot of sick cruise passengers...it was sort of out of a really disgusting movie the last night. But nothing compared to Ike. I think having a wedding during hurricane season is sort of ideal...it kind of prepares you for marriage! haha

It's so cool we have the same anniversary! Not many people get married on a Sunday! :p

Oh my goodness...here I was thinking you must be starving without carbs. But your sample day menu sounded delicous!! I don't know if I could give up carbs all together for two weeks, (I am not even sure I could go a whole day), but it might be worth a try to cut them out of one or two meals/snacks a day. Hmmmm definitely something to think about. Thanks for sharing the infor with me. :)

40!?!?!? I looked at your picture and thought, "what an adorable woman in her 20's!!" (I'm 32). It's funny - the first time I saw my wedding pictures, I was like, "ugh...look how fat my arms are." But, it's weird. Once that initial reaction wore off -- the more I look at them, the less critical I am of how I look. I just look at them and think, "wow, that was so special and look how happy and in love we are!" It only took me four weeks to come to that state of mind. So, I guess that's good! :)
