Just a quick little pop in to say hello. It has been a beautiful blurr the last couple of weeks. {arent teacher confrencese, Christmas concert prep, my own kids concerts, breakfasts with Santa, swimming lessons.....the list goes on. I have been mind…

Shannon, you exemplify what it means to 'live with intention'...truly admirable. I am having many of the same thoughts as you about my weight and my goals. You just seem to articulate it so much better:)

I like it and I didn't think I would. I'm very skeptical of intuitive eating (for one of the reasons you mentioned above) as I think some folks try to force it thinking that it's "normal" and then get frustrated when they can't do it and end up feel…

Yes, continue through! A scale is a good tool to use but it doesn't always take into account temporary water gain or muscle gain. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I have heard about "Intuitive Eating" from another website, a few years ago and I heard great things about the book. I should get a copy for myself. Thanks so much for sharing this information

I have heard about "intuitive nutrition" - this seems like the same thing. Fascinating! I definitely need a copy of this book as this is what I hope for myself as well. Thank you so much for the detailed information and sharing about your life. I ha…

Happy One Year Maintainaversary! That is really quite an accomplishment. I admire how you listen to your body. I'ts not an easy thing to do but it will love you back when you do. I'm trying to get to that place you are 'mentally' myself. These thing…

That is JUST FANTASTIC! You go girl!

Hey! Have you ever tried making a big batch of oatmeal at the beginning of the week? I mix in dried cranberries and slivered almonds. Delicious and money saving! Only takes about 2 minutes to reheat.

That was not a bad day at all! I think most people would have tried those delicious sounding leftovers. Tomorrow will be another great day!

Hello:)

Just a quick little pop in to say hello. It has been a beautiful blurr the last couple of weeks. {arent teacher confrencese, Christmas concert prep, my own kids concerts, breakfasts with Santa, swimming lessons.....the list goes on. I have been mindful of my eating but I really slipped down on the excercise front last week. I'll have to pick it up a notch this week. I'll check back in tomorrow. Good night all.

The book that found me...Some thougts so far on Intuitve Eating (part one)

I have been reading Intuitive Eating and I'm really digesting it-if you will. I am not very far into the book yet but here are some thoughts on what I have read so far. Keep in mind that I am not making any judgements here, just sharing some thoughts about this book.

The book talks about rejecting the whole diet mentality and the sense of failure and set backs that comes with it. It talks about listening to your body and it's hunger cues. The emphasis here is on 'nurturing your body rather tContinue

Nov 24th food check in.

Going to keep this super short and sweet as I am sooooo tired!

Excercise: Did a 6:00 am Bikram Yoga class this morning. Such a great way to start the day but I crash hard at the end of the day from waking up so early!

Breakfast: Starbuck's drive thru for coffee and oatmeal to go on the way to work. I spend entirely too much money at Starbuck's

Lunch: I had three wasa multi grain flat breads topped with a little hummus, tomato chutney and montery jack. All melted in a toaster oven. This was re… Continue

Checking in-Monday Nov 23

Report cards are done!!! I always love it when they are finally out of the way. It's been such a hassle this term with all the power outages and computer issues we've been having in our classroom. I really think I should have a proper computer in the classroom, not some ancient dinosaur. There is a lot about public education that annoys me but I do LOVE my job overall. I stayed late after school and we got it all done. I took a bunch of stuff to make wraps for dinner and lunch so that was a real… Continue

Thank you for the calorie portion size info! And thank you also for the support and kind words! Today is off to a better start already! And I made pumpkin yogurt for breakfast (wrote about it on my blog....you might like it).
As for the fussy child...he turns 2 on Saturday. I know I have a trying year ahead of me. I just need to find and keep all my patience. Good luck to you for the same. (And once we've mastered this...they will become teenagers...AHHH)
Have a GREAT day!

Hey Nimi! Thanks so much for your comment and quote. I meant to give an update on that situation--talked with my sister the next day (who knew all the ladies there pretty well). She said "Oh my gosh! If you only knew!" in response to my feeling like the ladies had it all. LOL. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on Intuitive Eating! Thank you for the compliment. :-)

Thanks for the comment- I've found that not eating before bedtime is SO good for my sleep too- I feel so much more refreshed in the mornings! Glad you are finding it works for you too.

Hi Nimi! Thank you immensely for your comment on my post needing some support. Your comment about it being "just part of the journey" is right on. I've hit a plateau (whether it's a plateau in numbers or not, it's still a plateau) and I need to just JUMP off it already. I'm so happy to hear you have taken up running!! I took your advice about putting the gadgets away and just have some fun--played football with my nephews yesterday (we're babysitting them all weekend). They loved it and so did I! Then the oldest wanted to go for a walk on the trails so we jogged all the way home (about 2.5 miles). I confess, I did pull my Nike+ out to track that one...but it was the sheer joy of a kid football game that helped me say, "Sure, Cal! We can walk home."

Hi Nimi! I have always wanted to try hot yoga before but have yet to do so. I don't think there is one here at school, but I know of a few locations back home so I will have to check it out on my visits back there. There are group fitness classes here that I think will a great way for me increase my motivation on rainy days! Thanks for the idea!!

Thanks for the kind words, Nimi! I never thought I would be a runner. NEVER. EVER. That darn little Nike+ changed my whole outlook though. It's just so motivating to have all the tracking capabilities so I can work to beat my time, distance, etc. Love it!

Hope that post helped Nimi! You will be Ok this weekend if that is what you really want. Make a plan that is doable and stick to it. Test yourself out and see how you feel when you get home after sticking to plan. If you stick to your plan...your going to feel sooo good and you will want to do it again. We cant hide from those situations, we have to just learn how to handle them....AND they can be handled:) Good luck! You can do this:)
