About Me:
I teach preschoolers with special needs, primarily those that are on the autism spectrum. My other job is working part-time at a home for 2 adult men with down syndrome 3 nights a week. They are a lot of fun luckily, as I love to shop and haven't figured out how to spend less money yet so I still need two jobs :) I am also currently going to grad school to get my masters in autism. I just got married in June of 2009 to an awesome guy! When I do have some free time, I love to hang out with friends, read, listen to music, and I'm trying to get into exercising with a new home gym I set up. Weight and eating right has always been an issue for me. I have tried every diet known to man, and I really want a healthy life style, not a "diet". I tend to eat when I'm stressed and/or bored. This summer I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had my thyroid removed followed by radioactive iodine. I'm on medicine now and my metabolism is hopefully where it should be. Since I'm always so busy I'm hoping Jenny Craig, with the food and consultations, will get me heading in the right direction to weight loss. I have a total weight loss goal of 50 pounds.
Plan of Choice:
Jenny Craig
Workout Philosophy:
I'm new to exercise, I only exercise because I have to

Day 2 Jenny Craig

Feeling really good, got 2 workouts done in 2 days. Last night my husband wanted to watch Dexter and I wanted to watch Desperate Housewives, so I worked out in my gym watching my show and walking the entire hour. I walked a total of 4.77 in 55 minutes. Not too bad! Today I did my Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD week 1-2 workout for 30 minutes. I've stayed on plan and the food tastes great! I feel motivated and happy. I want to look around on this site more, but I am off to work at my second job for… Continue

Starting Jenny Craig today 12/6/09

I am depressed. I weigh more than I ever have before and it's hard not feeling like everyone is staring at my weight gain, even if it's only in my head. During my process of dealing with thyroid cancer this summer, and the weight gain after having my thyroid removed, I think I gave myself an out on taking care of myself and eating right. I kept telling myself, "Well you have no working metabolism anyway. You might as well eat the good stuff if anything will make you gain weight." The only person… Continue

2 week free for all and getting back on track

Today's weigh in followed a 2-week free for all, so I was expecting the worst. My jaw almost hit the floor when I found out I only gained 0.8 pounds. Granted it's still a gain, but I was more expecting +5 at least!! I know for me the key is tracking points and writing EVERYTHING down. I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow, so I plan on getting ingredients for yummy soups and other filling low point foods that make larger batches so I can get through my busy days. I'm moving on and trying not to ge… Continue

Why can't I stay on track when I get home from work???

grr... I always start off having a great day, but by the time I'm home from work I'm reaching everything on the shelves!! The spinach and artichoke dip is being brought into work tomorrow and I'm going to have to pour the sangria down the drain!

My food intake (thus far today)
Breakfast: 1 cup Special K cereal w/ 1 cup sliced strawberries and 1/2 cup ff milk, 2 veg sausage links: 6pt.
Lunch: Mushroom and Sausage Risotto (ww recipe): 7pt.
Snack: Large apple & baybel cheese: 4pt.

Hi Kelly. I am a big Weight Watcher fan but I am having trouble getting back on track. I was thinking about trying Jenny. I am scared of the food. I am kinda picky. Let me know what you think. I was hoping to use Jenny just to get me going.
Thanks Casey

Doing good, accept that I pulled something in my back on Monday and haven't been able to exercise all week. It's much better, hoping to make it to the gym on Saturday. Glad you are still with us! Hope all is going well! Keep us posted.

Yes, I work in the public schools. It is a challenge, because caseloads are big and I never feel like I have enough one-on-one time with each child.

I just read about your job, and am really interested. I am a Speech Pathologist and have worked with several children and adolescents with Autism. Very interesting!! Good luck with your journey, and welcome to Blog To Lose!
