I agree too...its mental. I stopped at three miles for MONTHS...then I decided it was time to go further...just to see if I could...and you know what? I went FIVE.. .. then on Monday, I ran 7...yeah, I said SEVEN. So, you're body can do it, just f...

I agree with the mental part too! I've always thought I wasn't a runner and further supported that with my dad's comments that my family just isn't built to run (he never did and I think he made those comments to justify his decisions). You can! I...

Thirding the "mental" part of running. It is also one of the reasons I like it. It is a huge challenge and a great metaphor! You can do this! Good for you!

I agree with Maren - it really is a mental thing. I used to hit a wall before I ever got to 5K and it took a lot mentally to get past that. I was physically able to do it, I just didn't think I could. It is a lot about believing that you can do it...

Running is SO mental. It really is up to you how far you run. Our bodies are capable of doing it...we just have to train our minds to keep going. People who run marathons are strong minded and they believe in themselves. Anyone can be that way. Ma...

Why do I think I can't run as far as I can? I was thinking about this last night watching the biggest loser. These overweight people ran a marathon and I continually stop at 3miles, I have never ran more than a 5k....and on the treadmill I don't l...

Breate Me by Sia is a great running song. It sounds slow but the tempo is perfect!

Enjoy Thanksgiving!! In moderation. That will be the key for all of us. You will rock it. That's for sure! I'm also going in a bit high and plan to wear a tighter fitting outfit to give myself less "room" tomorrow. Here's to SUCCESS! :-)

Good plan, mine is very similar. We're having people here from tomorrow on, so tomorrow is normal (if my guests want to indulge, and drink wine, good for them, but I'm saving my indulgence for Thursday). Thursday, have the things I REALLY want in ...

just need to believe in myself!

Why do I think I can't run as far as I can? I was thinking about this last night watching the biggest loser. These overweight people ran a marathon and I continually stop at 3miles, I have never ran more than a 5k....and on the treadmill I don't last any more than 2 miles. I have a voice in my head telling me I can't do it, I'm not a runner--well that is bull! Why can't I be a runner? While watching the BL I realized that my body is absolutely capable of running for more than 30 minutes at one t… Continue

scale up right before Tday, oh great!

I am up slightly on the scale and it is sort of freaking me out. It is nothing to freak out over but I think it is just giving me that much more anxiety about thanksgiving. I would have liked to weigh in today and been on the lower side of my weight range to feel at least a little bit less guilt about indulging on thanksgiving. On the bright side maybe going into this weekend knowing I am high on my weight range will help me be more mindful of what I eat and how much I exercise. I have been trac… Continue

My T-Day weekend plan

1.) Get exercise on Thursday (run or walk)
2.) Eat a filling breakfast so I am not starving
3.) Fill my plate with the healthy salad I'm bringing and white turkey meat, but allow myself to indulge in moderation potatoes, stuffing, and apple pie.
4.) Don't drink alcohol on Thursday, the wine my mother in-law drinks is not worth the calories!
5.) Not make the thanksgiving indulgence a weekend of indulgence. I need to watch my portions all weekend long and stay active!

Why I was overweight and being the best version of ME

On the biggest loser I love that Jillian always tries to get to the reason why people are overweight. This past episode really got me thinking about my own reason. For me I think I became 20 lbs overweight because I always thought I was fat so I didn't see the purpose of taking care of myself (eating right, exercising etc.) I didn't really notice that I was gaining a lot of weight in college because I always saw myself as a large person. Of course when I look back at high school and early colleg… Continue

What I've Learned

Last night I went to book club, we hadn't met for a couple months so it was great to see all of the ladies. When I asked one of my friends what was new she told me that she is losing weight by doing these shakes and supplements. As she is telling me this she is eating chips, pumpkin bars, and m&ms by the handful. I started thinking to myself, "uh oh, this sounds like a crash diet and a quick fix." I am very happy that she is trying to lose weight and that she is feeling better about herself,… Continue

Thanks for your comment! It's good to know that others have similar issues and that I'm definitely not alone in feeling that way. Hopefully we can both learn to accept ourselves and be happy :)
