long overdue update

Sorry Ive been so mia lately! Ive really been working hard on the healthy living front..especially the living part!

I ran my first 5k today, which has been a goal of mine for a long time now. I had started and stopped training plans too many times to count, but I decided to just do it. So do it I did, sans training! I ended up pacing a 12 minute mile, which was fine by me and I was so glad that I had so much support!

Ive been really emerging myself in all things yoga. Ive been going to class a… Continue

New Week

I celebrated my birthday Monday night...and over the course of the week have managed to eat out too much, eat too much candy, & have my fair share of alcoholic beverages. Luckily, tomorrow is a new week, & Im ready to lose :)

Have a great week everyone!

What's normal eating?

In an effort to ignore my papers and powerpoints that are due next week, I surfed the net and found some wonderful reads that I thought everyone would enjoy! When I first started losing weight I thought in 'diet' terms. I looked for bread with the lowest number of calories not whether or not it was whole wheat, I counted out my grapes, and I diligently calulated every calorie that enter my mouth [enter 5 calorie gum!]. Looking back I can see how hard it must be for people who lose all their weig… Continue

Challenge: Initial Test

I decided to do the challenge that Roni suggested:

--100 sit ups
--100 push ups
--200 squats

After my initial period, I got my results:
--50 sit ups
--10 push ups (half good, half butt in the air!)
--85 squats (I got bored & I think I need to be sinking in deeper to them to feel more of a burn)

Aside from yoga and running its good to have something that I can just 'drop' to do. It literally took me less than 5 minutes to do these things, and they can be completed in a variety of places :)… Continue

Thanks for the pep talk this morning. I did end up doing my hike after all. I am working on building a better relationship with the whole excercise thing.

Hi Kate! It was so nice to see a comment from you!!! I hope all is well!

Overall I do feel well, but like you said in your last post--I tend to write upbeat posts--behind the scenes I am feeling hot and bloated and bummed out about the number on the scale. craziness...

What is going on in your world? You are doing so great with the weight loss!

I have a question about the kale chips you mentioned in another post....I've never had kale. It's a green leafy veggie that actually gets crisp?

Thanks for the comment Kate! About the Isopure that I bought, I think it was around $34 for 3 lbs of the stuff. I really like it so far, tastes like a dessert when you blend it with almond milk.

Creamy Chicken Chipotle Chili. I don't know all of the measurements? I made it in a crock-pot.

- cooked 2-3 cups? pinto beans until tender
- cooked chicken, deboned, add to beans
- blend a small container of cottage cheese and add to crock-pot
- add fresh garlic, onions, tomatoes (optional: additional peppers).
- add a chipolte mix (I picked one up from a local lady, but I'm sure you can buy them in the store.)
-cook on warm for 24 hours. Stir. Serve.

It was good. Much hotter the first time because I added pepper seeds.

Hi Kate thanks for commenting on my blog! I don't need to do weight watchers, and if I want to see a faster loss then I should def. take into account your method with the math and equations...I just figured out what my intake should be in order to lose weight... so what I did was convert that into WW points...the point system is easier for me to count out since I already know it and basically 50calories = 1pt so it was easy to do the math. So based on your advice I'm changing my daily points intake to the number I just came out with. Thank you for the advice! I'll keep in touch with results!
