About Me:
I recently ran my first half-marathon (in the rain, uphill) and got married. I had signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon in October, but now that I'm pregnant, I'm going to defer it until next year. That's right! The husband and I have been blessed and I'm due on February 6!

Interesting Newscast

One of my good friends made the news! She's an IFBB Pro and just got back from competing in Italy, so I thought I would share:

Marathon Blues

I'm supposed to be running the Marine Corps Marathon right now.

I have a feeling I'm going to be in a funk for the rest of the day. =(

Yikes, what happened to me?

Seven days, no gym. Bedrest really sucks. That being said, I'm at least I'm still tracking my intake. Last week was really good. I averaged 2150 calories a day. This week... well, I'll save you from having to see all the terrible things I've been eating, but I'm averaging 3500 calories. Yikes!

Baby Names... need some opinions

Another off-topic post!

So, the hubby and I need some help and I need that help from you! We are keeping our baby's name a secret from all of our family/friends, but it also means we don't get a lot of feedback. We've picked out our first name, but we've been stuck on a middle name for months.

Here are the choices:

A couple of notes...
-Leigh is my best friend's name, but I'm worried that Harper… Continue

Bedrest

Four days and no gym.

I love the gym.

Ok, well, I love the gym when people aren't commenting on how much weight I've gained or how I shouldn't be doing certain things in my "condition."

For those of us who have spent years or even decades watching the number on the scale or fixating on our pant size, pregnancy can make you feel lost and out of control. Yes, yes, we all know that you have to get bigger and that the end product makes the torture of getting dressed a little easier, but it's stil… Continue

When I did 30DS, I was also training for a half-marathon so cardio wasn't an issue. The point of the Shred is that it combines cardio and weight training, and if you are doing it right, you'll be sweating for the entire 20 mins. It's high intensity,…

Congratulations! You might want to check out the Brewer Diet. I learned about it in my childbirth class and wish I had known about it since the beginning.

It sucks to think that the average baby comes between 37 and 42 weeks and that due dates can be off by as much as two weeks. So, in theory, babies can come anywhere from 35 and 44 weeks. Ugggh! Enjoy your last little bit of sleep, Lauren!

Thanks for the info on the Brewer Diet. I printed it out and trying to follow it today. Planning on going to stock up on healthy groceries this weekend. Let us know when your little bundle of joy arrives!

Hang in there. The last trimester is so rough! I think it is even harder when you have had to be on bedrest. You also have a toddler--yikes?! You must be so worn out.

Thanks for giving me some hope about those ten pounds. My clothes feel fine, so it is probably some sort of water retention. I think I will be weaning Henry soon (I return to work on Jan 4). I am still struggling with my milk supply--most I have been able to pump is 2 ounces (even with fenugreek, lots of water, nursing every 2-3 hours, etc).

Hi Jen! I did come home weighing about 8 lbs less than before I was pregnant, but I have gained back probably 8-10 lbs?! Nursing makes me hungry, I am grabbing whatever food we have and scarfing it down in what little time I have, and caring for an infant is making me stress eat so I am nibbling on candy more than I should?! I go back to work on Jan 4th--I am hoping that it will help me to get back into more of a routine when it comes to eating.

How are you doing? I try to keep up by going to the healthy pregnancy page periodically!

There are lots of great races in the area and lots of fun festivals for the family. Virginia is a great place. Hot and humid in the summer but lots of beautiful water and things to do. Hope you are feeling good!

Actually, he turned 7 weeks yesterday (Thursday)?! craziness... time is flying by and he seems like he is growing every minute, but I am still trying to get comfy with this motherhood thing--still feels like I am winging it and I have so little time for "me"... I am winging it when it comes to food too--scarfing down whatever I can between feedings... I am on maternity leave until Jan 4th, maybe then I will feel like I have more of a schedule/routine, etc.

How are you doing with the bedrest?

I used to be a full time smoker, than I became an "occasional" smoker, with beers or on really stressful days. That's the habit I'm trying to quit right now. I almost think that's harder than quitting completely because I've made it ok to smoke, in my head, during those situations. I'll get there though, it's a hard habit to break, but I know I have the strength. Thank you for the comment!

Thanks for your understanding words, gal~ I think we just have to accept our PG gain for what it is... short-term. ::shrugs:: I don't like gaining so much every pregnancy, but it seems that for some of us no matter WHAT we do (or don't do) we gain that larger number. :-/ All we can do is take each day and make *IT* the best we can, then when we DO fail (because we will), get back on the horse and do things the right way. Thanks again~ I appreciate you taking the time to respond~ :)
