Repeat

I do not want to be in the same place I am right now by next year. I eat well one week and then go way off plan for two weeks and I keep repeating this pattern more or less. I am currently sidelined by a hip injury from running. Of course it depresses me because I fell in love with running and I know that it gets so much harder to get back in shape when you get out of it. So I’m struggling to come up with a replacement for running.

My closet is full of beautiful clothes I have bought thinking “… Continue

What a difference a week makes

I lost 4.2 lbs this week and while that's fine I think it's more important that I learned the following this week:

I need to diligently track what I eat everyday. For some this is a nusiance but it gives me a sense of control and a better picture of what I'm eating. For example, if I have a carbohydrate heavy breakfast and lunch (which is fine) I try to lean for more protein by dinner. Somewhere down the road I will probably be able to lighten up on the tracking but that time iContinue

I Am Present

I haven't binged at all this week.
I tracked all the food I ate.
I never felt deprived.
I have made conscious & thoughtful decisions about my food and health
I am present

I have felt more in control this past week than I have felt in years. Seriously, I cannot remember the last time I followed through with a real plan for my health. I am present and calm. I'm going to weigh in tomorrow at Weight Watchers and I don't care if I've lost a single pound because I alr… Continue

Thin Sexy Bitch

I talk a lot about health reasons for why I'm losing this weight so I’m going to take a minute to speak to all the VAIN reasons I want to be thinner:
NOTE: Health is important but I don’t want to talk about that right now

1) Go out to clubs wearing tight, slutty sexy clothes

2) Be the HOT bitch wherever I go (well not a bitch exactly I just needed a flashy word)

3) When I go into a dressing room be able to fit into ANYTHING I bring back there with me and not have to call… Continue

Yeah living overseas (not Korea specifically though) made me gain lots of weight too. It's hard being in an unfamiliar culture, language and food is the closest thing to what we know from home. I know what you mean about that "How come some people c…

Soups? I make a big batch (chili, veggie, this week was smashed potato) and reheat it for snack, lunch, dinner, whatever. Oatmeal with mixins for breakfasts? This week was craisins and slivered almonds. All you've got to do is dump the oatmeal and w…

I totally know what you mean about WW. When I was in Canada, I loved it for a long time but eventually the points just started to make me angry because no one could tell me what I should do with my activity points and how many I should earn and such…

Congrats! I'm struggling a lot lately so it's SO refreshing to hear a maintenance story as it seems to be quite rare in the blog world. I'm having a hard time with emotional eating so I'm hoping it will get easier like you said.

Jackie...so far (after only 1 week) I TOTALLY LOVE the BodyBugg. Like Elaine says, in order for it to work you have to be religious about logging every little thing you eat! Just seeing it all in black and white is very motivating. You can SEE that you aren't as active one day compared to another etc...and it motivates you to get up off the couch and burn some extra calories to see that "deficit" goal met!

The BodyBugg is worth every last cent. I can not give it enough praise. You will absolutely adore it. The one catch is you have to be willing to log your food on their website every day in order to see the numbers.

Hi Jackie. I'm following the macro eating plan outlined in Wendy Chant's book "Crack the fat loss code." You eat 4-6 times a day to rev up your metabolism and manipulate when you eat carbs to keep your body from hitting a plateau.

Thank you so much Jackie. Your comment really touched me, a lot. You are exactly right, that is EXACTLY how I feel- aimless!! You've really given me something to think about.

Hi Jackie! I love calorie counting. It has been working great for me since my start back in late June. I use a website called livestrong.com to track what I eat. They have an iPhone app that syncs with the website too if you're an iPhone lady. I signed up (free) thinking that it wouldn't last long and that it would feel like a ball and chain. But...I found that I can easily track while I check e-mails (about three times a day that usually coincide with my meals). I've found that this website has nearly everything I eat, and what it doesn't have I can add to the database. I have never counted points before, so I couldn't tell you the pros/cons compared to points. What I like about counting calories...or more specifically, livestrong.com, is that I can pay attention to other parts of my diet (like breakdown between carbs/fat/protein, breakdown between meals, sodium intake, saturated fat intake, water intake) and my exercise too. Sometimes it is a pain in the neck, especially when the food isn't in their database but overall I love it and can't imagine trying to successfully monitor various parts of my diet without it. Good luck on your decision!

Hi Jackie! Thank you SO MUCH for your comment. I used to have that attitude of using my body and being thankful for the physical abilities that I have. I needed your post to remind me of those feelings. What I appreciated most was what you wrote about motivation-- "it's never lost, it's just wandering around waiting for you to find it again."

It's so funny you should mention that about the birth control... I've only been on it a week and I've noticed many side effects. I wasn't sure if they were from the BC or not so I googled the reviews of this particular birth control, and I read review after review of many people having the same symptoms, including depression! I am not taking another pill... thanks for your advice!

Im loving P90X so far. Its hard and time consuming, but a great workout. I bought it new online for only $55. You can buy them used for a good deal too. Just make sure it comes with all the DVD,s and the nutrition plan when you buy it. There are a lot of knock offs going around. I think mine was a knock off....but it had everything that it was supposed to have in the kit so I was Ok with it. I spent a lot getting weights, a mat, bands, a pull up bar and a weight to get started. It was worth it though. Im not paying for a gym membership anymore so its fine. Anyways, I will post before and after pics so you can see the difference.....hopefully!
