He's a little cutie! I can't wait for mine to get here and I'm only 8 weeks! LOL. It's been a long time since I had a baby in the house. My youngest will be 7 in February and this will be the hubby's first child of his own. It will be interesting! Y…

Wow, great post! I know I give the scale and what it says way too much power... I think intuition is a great thing--both physically and mentally--if only trusting in that intuition was easier! I went to a nutritionist awhile back that was a proponen…

Profile Information

About Me:
I live and work right outside Washington, DC. Before that I was living north of Cincinnati. I am originally from upstate NY (outside of Ithaca).

I am a new mom. Henry was born on September 10. Right after the birth I had lost all the baby weight (17 lbs) and more (25 lbs total), but in the past 3 months I have put back on about 10 lbs. I have been on maternity leave and I find myself emotionally eating quite a bit, plus nursing made me so hungry! I am returning to work on January 4th, so hopefully I will be able to get back into a groove then. I do so much better when I have a structured schedule. I still have a good 70 lbs more to lose (had it before becoming pregnant!).

For the next year, I am going to:
-eat 3 meals and 2 snacks each day--eat whatever/whenever I want, but keep my calories less than 1800
-exercise 3-5 times a week, either at the gym during my lunch or through walks with my family--want it to be fun!
-focus on whole foods and eat less sugary things--but make sure to make the 5 eating times enjoyable!
-drink plenty of fluids--this one is hard for me!
-work on my mental health--better self esteem, body image, and stress management
-weigh in every Thursday--but do not focus on weight!
-journal my food daily
-post a blog entry weekly

Christine--that's great about starting in Jan! That means some time to spend with little Henry. I'll have to post pics when I actually make some progress :) I might get in a picture of me in my cheer shirt.

Hi Christine! I grew up in Takoma Park, MD, so I know college park so well! Your little Henry is gorgeous!! I love the photo. What a sweet smile! I live in Missoula, Montana right now but I hope to move back to DC. I want my boys (ages 1-1/2 and almost 3) to know their cousins and be there as my folks get older. How do you like the area so far? What part of NW did you live in? Good luck in your weight loss! I sure can use it too!

I have an hour commute, so I get a chance to talk to the co-coach about everything that happened that day for a whole hour. That way, I get most of it out of my system before I get home! When I'm still upset, I then get to tell my husband the whole story of my day when he gets home...and I can blog about it! Also, I tell myself once I write it down, I must list ways I'm going to make it better tomorrow and then I make a pact with myself that I will forget it. The forgetting it is the hard part, but it's what allows me to let go and move on.

Ugh! I'm at the point where I'm just ready for this baby to get here, but I know it's still too early and it's only going to get worse.

When I was breastfeeding, I held on to about 10 extra lbs. As soon as I weaned her, it dropped off. I lost like 8 lbs that week!
