The rain has been crazy! I can't believe it's been this cool for summer. That's Iowa for ya, totally unpredictable. =) Glad to hear you were able to get out and moving - I'm hoping to do more of the same this week!

Have a great Monday!

Hi Bloo. Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving such a kind and rational comment. It's always good to hear your "theory" supported!

Hi there :)
No new results, i'm awaiting some news from my recent bloodtests.... I've started changing my foodhabits slowly, and i definitely feel better when i avoid Gluten so that's good news i guess!
Enough about me, how are you doing? :)

Hey, thank you sooooo much for the kind response to my whining post :) it felt really good to have someone giving me tips and saying that it truly isn't the end of the world after all!
I know there's plenty of alternatives, but i just need to go to health stores and figure out all my options really.
I still need to see my doctor before for some other tests and then we'll start this caper :)

Just. Not. Moving.

I’m having a hard time getting out the door lately. It’s not that I don’t want to, and it’s not that I don’t have a plan. I’ve hammered out how bridge from a Couch to 5k program to a half marathon training plan, and I’m excited about it. I just can’t find the bloomin’ time! And that is frustrating.

With the weather getting cold and it raining for what seems like a week, I can’t just hop out the door, run for 25 minutes and be done. I wasn’t stretching when I did that (which was bad) but I was g… Continue

Slice of Pie: Part 2 -Skip that slice of pie

I've got to confess... I'm a little bit of a hypocrite sometimes when it comes to picking foods for my son to eat, and what I'm willing to let him see me eat. I don't think I'm weird - I think most parents wants their kids to have good eating habits. I know that right now his parroting stage means monkey-see, monkey-do, which makes me hesitant to eat junky around him. I know that whatever he sees me or DH eat, he's likely going to want to try.

I've got this double standard, where he needs to ea… Continue

Love Yourself by Taking That Slice of Pie

I've figured out that I am taking better care of myself when I take that slice of pie, than when I "eat just two bites."

Let me explain.

I have a sweet tooth that that occasionally has its rampages. Actually, I should take personal ownership, here: I am an emotional eater, and sometimes I go into the kitchen looking for trouble.

Trouble a week ago came in the form of a Jell-O no-bake cherry cheesecake that I had whipped up for a couple that visited for dinner. If I was honest with myself, I k… Continue

Crazy Week!

I haven't posted in a while - it's been a crazy week! We've got a customer at work that isn't satisfied that our product performs, so I've been seeing some lo-o-o-ng days trying to hopefully get them happy. It's frustrating because they're basically not following the user manual that comes with the product and then aren't happy with the performance. Sigh!

I was able to squeeze a run in on Tuesday, just putzin' along trying to build some base. My last run previous to that was another 6 days befo… Continue

Food Log for today

Wanted to get a quick post up before heading to bed. I've been needing to track my food better - I'm up a little bit from when I hit WW Lifetime in March. It's not a whole lot (roughly 5lbs), but I really need to nip it in the bud. The hard part, I"m discovering, is that I try to use my exercise as an excuse to indulge a little. :) Sort of like taking one step forward and two back! So to help with accountability, I'm going to log my food better.

Today:
6 1c yogurt w plain oatmeal mixed in (I'm… Continue

Hey! This is something I am really struggling with as well. I live in Minneapolis and October was basically winter already. I gradually migrated to the gym (started by telling myself just go for 30 minutes, that's it!). 30 minutes is better than not…

You are so right! Sometimes I laugh at myself when I catch myself "sneaking" food like I used to when I was a kid. Who am I sneaking it from? My husband? My kids? Myself? So much better to just sit down and enjoy it!
