This group is open for ANYONE to join! We're a group of re-motivated ladies, looking to focus (or re-focus) in on our personal health goals. We'll be loosely following the Best Life Diet advice in Bob Green's book.

Congrats Ladies!
We're on to Phase Two, making us one phase closer to living our Best Lives. Here's a run-down of our goals for this stage!




Time Frame
A minimum of four weeks. At the end of this phase, you should be within 20lbs of goal weight or at your goal weight - ready to move on to maintenance!


Weigh In
The first day of this phase, then again once a week

Focus
Significant and consistent weight loss brought by understanding and controlling your hunger and making a few dietary changes.

Objectives
* Build on the changes you made in Phase One
* Increase your activity level at least one level (optional)
* Understand the physical nature of your hunger
* Understand the emotional reasons for your hunger
* Use the hunger scale
* Eat reasonable portions
* Remove six empty or problem foods from your diet.
(soda, foods that contain trans fats, fried foods, white bread, regular pasta, and high-fat dairy products)




Let's do this ladies! We owe it to ourselves to be living our Best Life EVER =) I'm really excited by the progress we've all made, and I can't wait to see the lbs dropping off of each of us. We've got a lot of hurdels in this phase, so don't forget to start Discussions and check in on the wall!

Reading further in the book is a great idea. I know that wall--I've lived that wall over and over. Just keep taking the little steps. No interest in the gym? Try to at least be off the couch and on your feet. All you want to do is stare at the TV? Lift weights or use a stretchy band while you're sitting there. Really want the snack--go out and get the absolute most amazing snack you can think of...and some veg and fruit too. And keep remembering, this is just a bump in the road. The scenery's still too pretty to keep from going on.

We're so close ladies!
i'm posting a blog right now about how i'm not doing so hot. I;m hitting that all too familiar wall of "i'm just SICK of being fat" *siiiigh*

I think I'm going to take my weekend to answer the questions again for myself, and read up in the book. I'm excited to start phase two - and be posting some new discussions on here! I'm glad we decided to do this together =)

Well, I've eaten approximately 3000 calories worth of cheese, chips, and cookies in the past 48 hours. :-) I'm feeling just fine about it, though--it's just a bump on the road, my habits are still firmly in place, and I'll work that pound off just like all the others. Tomorrow's the last day of school, and my summer workout schedule can begin! Woo!

I've heard of the show, but I don't actually have a TV. Or rather, I do--but only because computers can't play VHS tapes. :-) Did you manage to find the cookbook?

On another note--does anyone have any thoughts about soups and stews? I've decided the first thing I'm doing when my students are gone is to take a day, make up some homemade chili powder, and then mix up a big ol' vat of chili. I'm looking to try other soups and stews once that's done, though. Any suggestions?

LOL Kris that sounds like a blast! Do you watch So You Think You Can Dance? I love that show and last year they did a Bollywood dance that was awesome! I'm going to see if the library has the cookbook, I didn't even know that there was one!

We ate late again tonight because for some reason the chicken took an extra HOUR to cook! It was out of control. I did decide that instead of sitting on the couch when we were done that I would finish up the dishes and clean up the kitchen. Every little bit of activity counts, right?

Heehee. My sister got me the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook--now *that's* one that needs (and thankfully has) pictures! I did in fact do my library run and I picked up Bob Greene's book today. But more importantly I picked up a workout DVD of World Dances! I've found my remedy for 'aw, man...I don't want to leave the house to go to the gym!' I can do Bollywood dances in my living room. Hooray!

Oh man, I hear you kris!! I just can't pass up a good cookbook =) I've debated buying it for a long time now ... flipped through it several times (haha) My only problem is that there isn't pictures for every recipe! I'm like a 5 year old ... I need my pictures! haha

Thanks for the recommend, turn_inside_out. I just checked out the online catalog and a bunch of the branches carry it--*and* the best life cookbook! Yes, I'm a fool for a good cookbook. I can't wait to check it out.
