That's great, Debi! I finished the C25k program, but I was running using the times in the program and not the distances. When I finished I could run for 30 minutes, but only for 1.5 miles. So, I'm doing the program again starting at week 4 running the distances instead of the minutes.

So glad to have found this group. I have been using the couch to 5K to help me with my walk/run for months now. I love that podcast.

I have made it off the couch and I'm currently walking at an increasingly faster pace so I can go back to running someday. This looks like the place to start! Yesterday I managed to run for one whole minute after walking very fast for 30 minutes. The only injury sustained was in the "chest area" since I opted to do this unexpectedly and was NOT wearing the right bra.
Will be better prepared tomorrow!

I did C25K back in June and it was phenomenal! I'm still a fatty, but am now working towards my first (omigod!) 1//2 marathon. Anything is possible... as I can assure you I am not a runner, I am a eater, so if you're pondering the program... I HIGHLY reconmend you do it! True story.

When I got a new pair of running shoes, they were so much more comfortable than my old shoes that I never felt the need to do anything special to break them in. If you are getting fitted for running shoes, they should feel great compared to old shoes or shoes that haven't been fitted to your stride and the way you run. However, I'm sure there are others on this loop that know more about this than I do. So, maybe they will chime in. Good luck!
