Hi BTLers! I am looking to add some new tunes to my ipod for working out (primarily running), any song suggestions or websites with song lists? Thanks!
I'm so glad you did this! I just got my Nike+ and new Ipod Nano today and I am looking forward to seeing what suggestions you get! :) I just did a blog on my most recent playlist. I added to that some old school Pearl Jam. Alive and Evenflow. :)
I have quite the variety on my iPod. I got on a Journey kick and listened to a few of their songs when I started running (Anyway You Want It, Don't Stop Believin). I also have lots of other old school music like Salt n Pepper, Flock of Seagulls (And I Ran...), Blonde, Billy Idol. I also have newer stuff like Pink and Lady Gaga (Poker Face, Just Dance). I can't wait to see some other replies!
Check out this list on Women's Health...it's a great list of songs, but even better, they're all 120-140 bpm - the optimal range for running fast! I only use one of them when I'm struggling or need to get myself focused during a run! http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/running-playlist
I'm a little crazy with my music, I like a lot of electronic/techno/dance music, like Orbital, Phats and Small, Apollo 440, Chemical Brothers, Mylo, The Wiseguys and such. The Altogether, by Orbital is an incredible album of electronic music which is high paced. I really like music without lyrics, mainly because when I work out, I think through plot lines for my novels. It helps when there are no words mixing in with the ones in my head.
Then there's the pop music too, preferably music with a strong positive message. Although the occassional angry song is good too.
I love the new Black Eyed Peas Song, "Boom, Boom, Boom". I think is what it's called. Anything by Britney Spears is also a motivation for me. I know she's a little crazy these days, but I just imagine her body, what it looked like back in the "I'm a Slave for you" days. You can't deny that she had a rockin body. It depends what mood your in, but Justin Timberlake's Futuresex/Lovesounds also is a great mixture for working out, there's just enough upbeat songs but some slow ones in there also for a cool down. Love it!
My daughter loads my IPOD for me. The songs she added recently were STRONGER...sorry, don't know thw artist...and the Rocky song...Gonna Fly Now...or whatever the title is. When these songs came on as I was walking, they made me have the energy to jog instead of walking. I love that she did that for me. She is proud of her Mama for exercising after sitting sedentary for so long. :)
Hey, I dont know what your style is, bad the band 3oh!3 is VERY upbeat and it always motivates me! They do curse and have some inappropriate lyrics so if your offended easily probably not the best. Other than that I love www.pandora.com to find new music for working out.
