I just started the Shred I'm on Day 2 - I am pretty fit and no stranger to exercise - but I'm wondering if any of you that have done or are doing this workout are incorporating another type of Cardio in addition to doing this workout as well...I just feel like I need to do more Cardio then the small amount that is done in the video??? Wondering if others feel the same??
Thanks in advance for any help!
I have used it more as my strength training and alternated it with running days. Great for that! Hope someone who has done the full 30 days straight without anything else can give you more help!
I am finishing up the Second Circuit of the 30 day Shred, I have done The Shred faithfully but I have also incorporated Zumba classes and Pilates classes into the week as well.....But, I can see a difference in my body - especially in my abs....and in my legs. The scale is only showing a 3-4 lb. weight lose, but I am going by the way that my clothes fit rather than the scale, with that in mind, things are fitting me looser than prior to starting the shred.
So I have a day to go and then I move on to Circuit 3! What I love the most is that this is a short intense workout......I use 8lb weights and I want to throw them at the TV at times!!! But I do this workout at 5:00 AM and then I can still fit in a workout in the evening as well.
Hi Nancy, I just bought Jillian's 30 day shred last weekend. I have been doing it in the mornings and the evenings when I don't go to the gym. I go to the gym on M, W & F. I really think the twice a day routine is helping me a lot, plus I have a lot of pent up energy so I enjoy moving. Like the DVD so far, but I'm only on level 1. I think if you add some cardio on the treadmill or weight training you'll be happy.
When I did 30DS, I was also training for a half-marathon so cardio wasn't an issue. The point of the Shred is that it combines cardio and weight training, and if you are doing it right, you'll be sweating for the entire 20 mins. It's high intensity, so as far as the health benefits go, it's really all you need. Once you get into level 3, you'll definitely be sweating and getting your heart rate up. That being said, if you wanted to do some light cardio, it shouldn't hurt.
