Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Eileen

Is there anyone not on WW looking to lose 25-50lbs?

I am working on losing my last 25 lbs of FAT and would love to connect with people who are adding in exercise, experimenting with new recipes and making it a lifestyle not a diet.

I want to have some accountability for the exercise and water intake, maybe a few pointers or challenges to keep the progress going. Measuring weight, inches and reporting in on NSV. Anybody with insight is appreciated, but I don't have WW points listings and information. I basically do low carb - less than 100 grams a day. Low fat, I try to stay below 25 grams in a day, this is often a challenge, but I try to make it healthy fat such as almonds. Also I am working on getting my fiber intake up to a steady "regular" of 25 grams daily. Just a few of the things I pay attention to in my attempt to lose the FAT!

I'm doin the same. I'm not on WW but like you I'm doing low carb, low fat and low sodium (because I want to avoid water retention and looking bloated). I'm also increasing my uptake of fiber and H2O. They say you should drink half your weight in ounces and a little more if you exercise. I'm hoping to lose at least 25 but would like to lose close to 35 lbs. Although I'm new, I've seen groups on here that use motivation and accountability for members. I was thinking of joining but there's so many good ones, I don't know which one best fits me. I should just make my own group lol.

Ana it's good to meet you. If you don't mind my asking what is your goal weight?

I'm at 158 now and want to get to 135. I'm 5'4" and am currently increasing my cardio from basically nothing to a minumum of 3 days to a max of 6 days per week for at least 20 minutes, but no more than 45 minutes at a time.

I will add strength training eventually, but I want to get in a routine with the cardio first. I'm bad at exercise routines. I've done well so far with the diet part.

It sounds like we are trying to follow very similar plans. If you wanted to start a group for the Losing it the Lifestyle Way - I'll be the first to join!!

I have 26 pounds left to lose to get to my WW goal — 36 to my personal goal of 160, so I fall into this category.

I'm trying to lose around 20 pounds, non-ww style. I'm basically just doing low-fat, high-fiber, low/moderate carb and healthy eating in general. I agree with Eileen's way -working out is def the key to success here. The best way is prob to kick up the cardio workouts first, then add weight training later on.

Trying to shed another 18 pounds (lost 36 already). Running and working out on the "Power Plate", occasionally some Pilates.
Tried WW, but it seems not to work for me, so I am basically just counting calories. Also aiming for at least 80oz. (2.3 litres) of water a day.

Hi, jumping in. My plan is very much similar to yours (low carb, low fat, high fibre), it is the Dukan regime (not sure I can post links but it comes up on google with "the dukan diet"). I have lost 90 pounds since start (Nov. 2007 at 278), and working down to 110 or so - which makes me somewhere in the middle of the road. I drink 2 litres water (tea and coffee included) a day on average; exercise - walking, mostly; some resistance training. Have just received my 30-day shred DVD and Walk Away the Pounds DVDs so will be adding those tomorrow, too.
I also use DietPower software to monitor the balance of the diet as it is very easy to slip off and undereat, or get the minerals and vitamins messed up.
Nice to meet you all, ladies, and good luck!

I read up on the Dukan diet or Protal and I'm curious and have alot of questions because it seems like it's really strict. Did you feel restricted on it? It seems to have worked for you since you lost alot of weight (btw congrats!) but was it hard to stay on track especially after a couple of weeks? I seem to get bored on diets and wanna try something like this but I'm worried I'll bail once the diet gets tedious.

Hello Eileen, I lost my last 25 pounds by dropping my carbs to below 50 a day, sometimes less and not eating after dinner. Worked like a charm. I don't worry about fat anymore. It doesn't seem to affect my weight at all.
