LOL. I was a vegetarian for 8 years and never thought that I would have an issue with my toddler not eating meat.
The only two meat items he will eat are breaded fish sticks and ham (which I refuse to buy due to the preservative and salt content). He won't eat beans but loves eggs. So at least he is getting a bit of protein.
Has anyone found a meat based recipe that a toddler won't refuse?
I am no help here. My little guy is so darn picky, he has a texture issue. So at 20 months he'll still eat any fruit or vegetable I puree but will only eat bananas in their true form. He adores bread so I make my own whole grain loaf each week, I make a muffin of the week where I hide all kinds of whole grains, fruit and veggies and I make my own organic yogurt for him. But he's just as bad about meat. I feel your pain.
Have you tried dips- not just the traditional ketchup or ranch. Pork goes great with applesauce. Chicken dipped in a little honey or apricot jelly thinned out. roasted turkey breast with a little thinned cranberry sauce. My girls loved the art of dipping and now that they are a bit older they dont shrug if my DH makes a balsalmic sauce over something. Worth a try!
you can make some amazing breaded / popcorn shrimp, just use 1 egg, some bread crumbs with whatever spices you want and coconut (shredded), put it all in a bag with the shripm and shake it like a polaroid picture, get your toddler to shake it, and then bake. TADA, yummo!
