I just want to know dose oatmeal stick to your ribs??? because i hear peaple say oh it is so good for weight lose because it keep you full for a long time. So i'am really go to try and eat more oatmeal and i will let you know how it go.GOOD LAXATIVE LOL.
I eat oatmeal every single morning. 1/4 cup cheap-o quick-cook rolled oats w/ 1 Tsp of ground flax seed with @ 2/3 cup water in the microwave for 2 min. (in a deep cereal bowl so it doesn't boil over). Then I mix it with 60-calorie pudding (usually rice pudding) for sweetener.
If I don't have pudding there are many other mix-ins to keep it interesting:
Fresh fruit
chopped walnuts
sunflower seeds
raisins
1 Tsp protein powder
dates
figs
honey
lowfat yogurt
lowfat milk
Usually keeps me filled up until lunch time - especially if I drink enough liquids.
I think I am the only person in the world who doesn't get filled up by oatmeal! I'm usually hungry around 1.5 to 2 hours later. I am positive this is due to lack of protein, I just can't get by without having some in every meal.
I like to make baked oatmeal because it has eggs in it and I can simply reheat it each morning. Here's a good WW Core recipe (although I use whole eggs).
It’s a Core recipe, 2 points per serving; serves 6.
Baked Oatmeal Squares
2 cups rolled oats
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup skim milk
½ cup egg beaters (equiv to 2 eggs)
½ cup unsweetened apple sauce
¼ cup “Splenda” (a little more if you like sweet things) or “Sweet n Low”
1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine wet ingredients, add dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in an 8 inch square pan for 35-35 minutes.
Cut into 18 squares, 3 squares is a serving. Or any other way you want; the whole pan serves 6. Serve hot, room temperature or cold.
This freezes well. This is an easy portable breakfast. Pop in microwave for 30 seconds if you want it warm. Serve with a container of plain fat free yogurt if you are on core, or add 2 points on Flex. This also makes a good dessert
To change it up a bit:
- Use 2 mashed bananas instead of the apple sauce
- Or use ½ cup canned unsweetened pumpkin instead of apple sauce and use pumpkin spice instead of or in addition to cinnamon
I made this recipe last week and it comes out better if you make it into muffins. This way it is not soggy in the middle. The batter makes about 6 muffins (2 pts each). I had one today. I sliced the muffin in half and nuked it for 30 seconds. Then I added a table spoon of PB2 to the top of both halves and it was AWESOME. I also baked it for 40 minutes instead of 35. Adding nutmeg to the recipe won't hurt it either. I also added raisins but that is not Core AND ups the pts to 3 pts each. I prefer the banana substitute as well.
Oh and one other thing, no one will touch them in your house, trust me. So they are all yours.
One big bowl of oatmeal, Anlene High Calcium Milk and slices of bananas. Blend all with a bit of water enough to make the oatmeal super gooey. Full satisfaction. Delicious and love it very much. Yarr!!
Oatmeal used to keep me full for a very long time. Also hard cheese (not cream cheese). An egg scrambled with some shredded cheese in the morning would keep me full for 6 hours or more!
I can't have the oatmeal anymore because of the gluten..... I'm currently looking for a tasty gluten free substitution; everything I've tried so far, STINKS!
Eat oatmeal everyday but I make sure to pair it with a protein so I stay full longer and I also add some fruit for more fiber. It's healthy, it's quick and if you have leftovers you can use it on your face as a mask lol.
