I have to agree with Kari and Erica. Eat a protein and good carb together. That will keep you full and it will help slow down digestion...hence lower blood sugar levels. Your body will then start burning fat as fuel. I also add protein to my oatme...

Have a great out-of-town weekend! And great job on the loss and all the walking you're doing! Keep it up!

You will tone those puppies up in no time! Just stick with a plan and you will succeed! My arms need to be toned in the worst way - you have inspired me to make an at-home plan....push ups, and bicep curls with 5/8lbs! Now.....when to do it....!

Congrats on your loss this week! You're getting so much closer to your goal and that's awesome! Don't be too frustrated about not doing toning exercises. Just find a way to fit even a little bit in each week and eventually it will just become habi...

Yes, I'm still here... haha

Well it's kind of discouraging that the last two or three blog posts have been the "Hey, I'm still alive" type. No good news (and no absolutely terrible news) to report in any of these posts. We have been in the moving and/or settling in process, and that has all come with parties and BBQ's, none of which were health oriented. I keep meaning to kick myself in the butt and just at least put some effort into healthy eating. I guess admitting that you are in the wrong is sort of the first step in t… Continue

I'm in Maine!

I've made it to Maine! I've actually been here about 2 weeks now, so I'll be here for another 8 weeks before heading back to Indiana. I wish I could say I arrived lighter than when I left California, but that has not happened (I'm not heavier though, just the same.)

I did find out I have wireless internet when I arrive which was a HUGE factor in my decision to try just counting calories. I've found I really am more structured when I track online with WW, so I'm going to return to that since I'l… Continue

More day trips & now I've read 3 of Tosca Reno's books

So since my last post we spent a day visiting my husbands grand parents, both sets in 1 day! It was really nice to see them & spend some time at each of their houses. First it was his Dad's side & they fed us lunch. I really wanted to bring my own food in as I had a cooler packed. But I was pretty sure I would have really offended his Italian Grandma. So I ate a snack in the car first & then had a tiny bit of what she served which happened to be white pasta with sauce & white bre… Continue

Why oh why?

So, on Thursday I weighed in at 159. I had a loss of 2.6! I tracked everything that week, exercised every day. I felt on top of the world. Since then I've opened my tracker once, eaten whatever junk I've wanted, and wonder why today I feel miserable?! I am not really stressed about anything besides finances. I work at a local BBQ restaurant. Since I live in a college town, most students have left for the summer. Work has been sooo slow! Therefore, I am getting about 10-13 hours a week instead of… Continue

What a difference a year can make!....plus 5K pics.

Wow! What a difference a year can make...seriously.....its just crazy! Last year on the 4th of July....I ran a 5k in the little town that my husband grew up in. Its a family tradition and something we try to do every year. Last year, I ran it and I was 20 pounds heavier. I had just lost 20 pounds and had started to run the April right before. I was right in the middle of my weight loss journey. I had only been running for three months or so, but did my training and felt good. I ran the race in 2… Continue

Donuts will be the END of me!

In my last post I wrote about cutting back on the sauce... Diet Coke that is. Welllll it hasn't been going so good. I just need to keep trying. And I'm a little worried about my weight loss this week. In a normal week I have 2 donuts. Last week I had 4... and then today I had one. So that puts FIVE donuts between my last weigh in and my weigh in tomorrow... yikes. I guess this will really put to test the "a calorie is a calorie" theory... that it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you… Continue

Weighing In....

Lost 1.2 this week! Not bad considering the barbecue I attended yesterday.

I didn't do badly though. Thankfully there weren't any chips (my weakness) and "snacky" foods. I was able to stay in control and keep my portions in check. I also ate after 7 (something I try NOT to do) so needless to say, VERY happy to see a loss this morning.

Doing well on the activity front. Completed my second day in week four of the C25K. I decided to do this week twice, and may consider doing it one more week. I f… Continue

Article About Weight Loss During Pregnancy...

For obese Mom's that is. I have been doing a LOT of researching about weight loss during pregnancy... and my findings have been SUPER interesting. This isn't the only source I've found with *this* kind of information... I'm even MORE sure that this is the right thing for me to do... continue to try to lose weight, that is. I would like to continue my focus on healthy eating, moderate exercise and boosting my protein intake.

When I was pregnant with my twins I found a lot of really interesting a… Continue
