Like you, I always used to view eating out as a special occasion and an opportunity to splurge. One day, I realized that eating in had become the special occasion and eating out was the norm. That's when I decided that I either had to stop eating ...

The smack talk is good... we have all had the food before, it's not like we are tasting anything new, like you say been there, done that onto something new.

OK, I got into the Halloween candy

... But it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I ate 28 Points (5 Points over the 23 I'm allowed). The chart doesn't account for the Kashi TLC coconut-chocolate bar I had at about 10 p.m. It was 2 Points.

The worst part is that I didn't get any exercise in today. When the Boyfriend woke me up (too early, I might add), I started writing. Then, about 11 a.m., I decided I was tired and took a nap. Two hours later, I finally woke up ... and by then I had to rush back up the mountain to get to work… Continue

Test of my Resolve

Today I went to the mall and faced a mini-test of my resolve -The Food Court! Right at the entrance of the mall I was hit by those sweet aromas of philly cheesesteaks, chinese food and pizza all working in unison to throw me off my game. I used to get a philly cheesesteak complete with a soda and cheese fries...and then to boot would get a pretzel on the way out. This was my "mall ritual" even though 98% of the time I had already eaten before I got there but devoured this temptatio… Continue

Day 22 - Lean & Mean in 15

tough to get to the gym today as usual. I am usually feeling tired and lazy on fridays but this was a workout that could be done from home so I got off the couch and just did it!

Glad to get it out of the way and feeling good about beating the crap out of my lower body and breaking a good sweat.
Good Luck to all

Temptation Avoided

As a teacher, there are always temptations EVERYWHERE! The candy jar in the office, the leftover cupcakes and cookies from events, birthday celebrations. Today one of my students brought me a cupcake because it was her birthday. It looked and smelled delicious. I picked it up, smelled it, said thank you--and then once she left the room I threw it away! Woo-hoo! This is huge for me. I love sweets and felt all of the "excuses" of why I should eat it starting to creep in. I even had to make sure th… Continue

I thought it was so bad, but it wasn't

Last night I planned to make a meal for us that I don't normally make, due to the sodium, carbs, and fat involved in it. But we are stretched for cash and I knew I had the ingredients in the house and it would save buying stuff. I planned my food yesterday to account for this indugence. I made it, I ate it. It was good. Then two hours later I ate the rest instead of putting the leftovers in the fridge. I felt so bad about it. I went to bed feeling bad and woke up the same way. Oh my gosh, I got… Continue

Before and After shots...2/3 of the way through...

This was me before Weight Watchers with my (adorable) niece.

Now here's me 10 minutes ago, 42 pounds lighter (wearing the same shirt I have in my profile picture). (Aren't I the fashion maverick in my $5 Target t-shirt?)

50 by the end of the year?

I didn't realize that there are exactly 8 weeks until the end of the year. That seems so close.

Earlier this week I set up a goal for myself to be at 164 by the end of the year. This past week I weighed in at 180.6. If I get to 164.2 then that will be 50lbs lost since the end of February. On my main blog I set up my goals for November. I'm aiming at 1400-1600 calories a day. I'd like to stick around 1500 though. So far this week I've been extremely successful. It seems to be a good number for m… Continue

Dear Holiday Season,

YOU WILL NOT WIN!
I RAN FOUR MILES TODAY!
I OFFICIALLY HIT THE 40 POUND WEIGHT LOSS MARK (actually lost 42 total)!
DON'T MESS WITH ME. DON'T PLAY WITH ME.
I AM A FIGHTER! I HAVE TAKEN YOU ON... AND YOU WILL GO DOWN. HARD.

(I hope all of you are having great day by the way. And yes, I know it's easy to "smack talk" the holiday season on 11/6. But, I am going to try my hardest not to let my successes die b/c the food came out everywhere. And yes I know the food is awesome. I had 32 years to enjoy… Continue
